Ok so saw the car and it looked good, tol the dealer I was rejecting the car as a car this new should not require so much paint aswell as the additional problems with it. They don't think there will be a problem with bmw buying it back and giving me a new car however I had to fill in a complaint submission on the bmw uk website to start the process. I discussed leaving the car at BMW but they said they're happy for me to do so but it's not a problem if I take it away either. Took the car home as I was sufficiently convinced it was ok, however got home only to notice a 3mm piece of fluff under the fresh paint on the bonnet!!! Unbelievable !! Pretty frustrated now as the stereo is still needing to be fixed as is the seat. I'll keep you update the last 3 digits of the chassis are 153

When did you first take delivery of the car? To me something is not quite right here, note the build date below. If the car was built in late June you should have taken delivery early August, is that right? Or did you purchase a car that was already built?

Ok it's pretty clear after reading your most recent posts that at this point, you should reject the car.

So sorry to hear what you have been experiencing. This is a 130k car how the hell can this dealership even think that you would accept these issues. I certainly hope they step up to the plate and get you a gem rather than this turd.
Good luck! |

I was working away from home today and the sales manager rang to ask where I was? I was at least 4hrs from home so I asked why and he said there was a rep for BMW uk at the dealership who's wanted to inspect the car. He can to my home collected the car and let the rep inspect it, I haven't had any feedback yet as the sales manager was in a meeting while he was inspecting it. I'm hoping to have more news later this week. Apparently there are 3 possibilities 1 replace the car (my preference) 2 total car bare mental respray by BMW uk NOT the dealer 3 compensation to the estimated loss in value of the car based on it's painted and I get a reduced trade in value on swap out
I feel that I'm being led down the garden path here as I'm not interested in money or the car being painted again, I just want it replaced! |

Those might be possibilities offered by Dealer/BMW, but there are others. Don't let them restrict your thinking, you are a party to the transaction and do have a say in it.

You can decode a BMW VIN on a couple of sites, some need you to register, others don't. This one does not require registration, it's in German but you can use Google Translate http://www.bmwarchiv.de/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html
I really think you have one option, reject the car, unless they offer you a massive discount, say, £40K, in which case sell the car and buy another! A bare metal re-spray is ridiculous, it will never be up to factory standard (I know, I've had older cars fully re-sprayed by top body shops that do Bentleys, Ferraris, Lambos etc.), they can be very good, but not the same as factory. It will still reduce the value come sale time. |

I suppose your right, rejection is the only answer shame as it's such a stunning car. I'm going to try and get on my PC (no mac here I'm afraid) and see if can post a pic of the fresh paint

BMW have said they would like the opportunity to put things right for me(their words) not sure what that means yet?? However looked at the bonnet and wing in natural light today and you can actually see stripes in the paint where the body shop have applied the paint. Feed up with this car.

Take note that asking you to 'allow them to make things right' could have legal consequences if you refuse. Could. I'd ask for legal advice. |

I agree with bjayfan. IF you accept their offer you MUST make it clear that this is the last chance and that you reserve the right to reject the car, this should be made in writing and acknowledged by them. However, I would say that they have had the chance already and it is not acceptable, thus you reject the car now.
Be very careful allowing them to drag it out, there is no stipulated time after which you can no longer reject something, but the longer it is the more difficult if becomes, for a car 3 to 4 weeks is getting to the limit especially for a cosmetic fault. |

Newbie with problem M6 gran coupe
Quote:
Dear Julie I sent Tony an email yesterday highlighting the numerous issues with the car again. However I've been away working overseas for most of last week (immediately after collecting the car after is was painted). Having looked at the car this morning in natural light I've been compelled to send Tony another email highlighting my extreme disappointment with the paint that was applied to the vehicle last week. I've sent Tony a picture showing clearly visible horizontal stripes on the bonnet where the paint has been applied, this is also the case on the wing although less evident due to the smaller surface area and more complex shape. I really appreciate the efforts you are making to resolve this issue but I really must tell you that I'm hugely disappointed with this care and the fact that it was painted when two weeks old is outrageous. I understand BMW would like the opportunity to put this right but with the list if issues with this car coupled with the substandard paint I really would like to request that you look to replace my car at the earliest convenience. I really don't want another attempt at painting the car and to be honest the excitement of having purchased such a nice car has been ruined and I now avoid driving or washing it as it looks awful. Thank you again for looking into this. Kind regards Parm On 25 Oct 2013, at 09:01, customer.service@bmw.co.uk wrote: Dear Mr Dhanjal Thank you for your online enquiry dated October 21, 2013. Congratulations, that's the best result I'm sure. Keeping a repaired car would only ever lead to you to regretting it in the future!
