M6 GC Comfort Access Retrofit

Hi All,

I've recently become the owner of a 2014 F06 M6 Gran Coupe, however I cant understand why this car does not have comfort access as standard. When paying £100k+ for a car you'd think this would be standard. I had it on my E93 M3 and was so convenient, and now I feel like I am missing something...

Is there any retrofits available, where I'd use the OEM parts. I'm aware it will be costly but having lived with the new 6 for almost a month now, I am still missing my comfort access.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

It's weird that you guys have to pay for this feature in UK. It's standard for US version... I believe many options like this, make the European version cars lighter than US version...

That's crazy that comfort access isn't standard on an M6 GC.

Curious to know, did you not realize this prior to purchase or did you think you could live without it and now you've realized that you can't?

Answer to your question, anything can be done with money so yes you could likely retrofit it. But the cost to do so would probably not be worthwhile, you would be better of selling this M6 GC and buying another one equipped with this option. That is for sure!!

I for one wish the weights for every option was listed! For me this is a cool feature but I'm not used to it. If it weighs 5kg I might, but not if it is 20kg...

PHAT options need lovin too!!!

LOL ... convenience options are never planned for weight savings ... and then again, you never see them in non street legal race car or purely track oriented car ...

Well for an already heavy 4500+ lb car 5kg is not a big deal but for lighter cars (i.e M6 Coupe) it's a big deal LOL.... BUT overall I agree with you ... M6 without this kind of options is like a beautiful sexy girl without teeth

You had to go there ... Teeth

Absolutely ... Sexy 10 goes to drop dead 0 when she smiles with rotten stinky teeth

Comfort access is like a set of real inflatable airbags ... Very nice accessories that expensive retrofits try to make look, feel and function like the original OEM accessories ... But they just don't touch and feel the same

Maybe time to trade in for the real thing with ALL the OEM accessories

Oh BTW I test drove AMG GTS the other day... it's a nice car with perfect exhaust sound and beautiful look but I don't think I can trade in M6 for AMG GTS... DCT and steering are not as good as M6

I agree 110%

AMG GTS Has an Absolute Amazing exhaust note and look ... DCT and steering feel on the M6 is killer

Look at that ... we agree on yet another item

So what are you thinking of now?

911 Turbo S is a nice monster ... tracked a few of them now ... NICE!

Overall I'm not in favor of 911; however GT3 RS is the exception...
most likely either another M6 or R8

I do like the R8 with the V10 ... That is a crazy looking and sounding car! Would have worked for me if we didn't have kids. I have tracked a few and can say they are very nice ... And for me the seat of the pants feel and exhaust note are important part of the experience ... They have done a great job and the fit in finish is also wonderful!

On a side note ... The next generation R8 will be unveiled here on Vancouver island at the Vancouver Island Motorsport Centre near Victoria BC during the month of April ... The German Auto Import Network (owns all the German dealerships, Subaru, alpha Romeo and fiat here on Vancouver island) has nearly competed the race track and facility ... Was just there today to preview the track!!!

You should see if you can get in on that event!

So.....

Can the retrofit be done...? can somebody shed some light on where this can be done using all OEM parts. I'm trying to go for the OEM feel. I did think I can live without it, but now realised this wont be an option and actually do need comfort access (obviously within reason) selling the car and buying another, is not really feasible as it is quite a drastic move.

Ok if I were you I would go to BMW and ask them for a quote on the impossible. There will be so much coding, wiring, part swaps involved I wouldn't trust anyone else to do it except BMW.

When i brought the car, I asked can you quote me to install Comfort access and they simply said they wouldn't do it. The sales guy goes these cars are so technical now, that if it's off spec (or a mistake on the spec were to be made) then they'd simply order another vehicle from scratch rather then retrofitting...which doesn't really help my situation.

Like BMW said, it basically cannot be done. and even if it could, it would almost certainly cost more than just selling yours and finding another.

I would list your car privately, wait for the right buyer at the right price and buy the proper M6 that works for you.

I feel for you, because being unhappy with a car that costs this much can be a pretty crappy feeling.
