In another thread I suggested switching to Carbotech pads. I switched to them due to the advertised low brake dust. Well now my damn brakes squeak so don't listen to my dumbass suggestion.

I am gonna give it a week and if they don't stop then it's back to OEM pads. I am a bit frustrated at this point. $500 on new pads and now I am squeaking like a son of a bitch.

Btw.. I am not sure why some complain of squeaking and some do not. My OEMs never squeaked at all but I know they do for some people. Weird.

Im sure almost everyone suffers from the brake noise. For the most part i dont notice it because im either listening to my music loud or the screaming downshift when slowing down drowns the noise. Haha

I would suggest oiling the breaks to stop the squeak, but someone might take me seriously

I have had no issues on any of M cars (my M5 nor my M6), however you must properly break them in. For the first 1200 miles I used them as little as possible and avoided hard stops. After 1200 miles I did 3 brake bed in runs, up to 100 hard braking as possible to almost a stop, roll forward and repeat. Never stop, after the last run, drive for awhile a normal speeds to let them cool down.

Never had a problem with them.

I used to get the problem a lot. After almost every wash or rainy day. Seems like the water would wash dust from the wheels or rotors into the pad where it would settle and then cause a squeak every time the pad hit the rotor. Whenever this happened I would just find a safe spot on the road to take the car to 60 mph and slam on the brakes hard, this solved it for me every time. It would usually buy me a week or two of squeak free driving but it seems the last time I had to resort to this was about 2 months ago now. So I'm starting to belief that after a while of slamming on the breaks to fix the problem the fix becomes permanent. I mean it's been raining in South Florida just about every day for the past few weeks, this would usually cause a lot of squeaking and so far I haven't heard it come back.

Exactly. A sharp 25-35 mph stop suffices at times.

Change your mind and believe this is part of fun and accept you are part of squeaking team most of us M5/M6 owners are living with this noise.
Try to answer this question:
Do you really need a powerful, luxury, gorgeous, fast, high end and most beautiful BMW ever made that destroys most of high performance cars in rolling start or even standstill race ? If the answer is no, then trade your car! If the answer is yes then enjoy the ride and ignore the noise ... BTW, I had dealer changed all 4 wheels rotors and pads and they followed BMWNA recommendation to install the low noise brake pads. Noise gone for coupe weeks only and then came back like a champ However the noise is much less than OEM brake pads!!
These are the special pads part numbers if you are interested:
Front Brake Pad: 34 11 2 284 869
Rear Brake Pad: 34 21 5 775 346

I totally hear you. It's so embarrassing when you pull up to a light and it squeaks so bad. You don't even want to look at the other drivers. I was at a car show tonight and everyone loved the beast -- until they heard me come to a stop. I told them to blame Brembo, not me. LOL! Bedding the brakes is key, but just know that after each wash, the squeak is likely to return. And once you bed them, the dust goes everywhere and your wheels are dirty again -- you can't win. LOL!

I tried to bed the Carbotech pads and it didn't do anything. They still squeak but the brake dust is almost non-existent - so happy there is no brake dust! I guess it's either messy brake dust spattered wheels or a little squeaky noise. Not sure which is worse lol.

I just put some high temp cooper grease on the anti squeal shims /pads . I don't have that problem now at all. Perhaps you should try that .

I remember reading about a guy on some car forum who put Armor All on his tires, not just on the side but on the contact patches as well (!), turned the TC off and then drove away, when it was raining...

He crashed.

Found the post, sorry for the

"Crashed my Baby
It was wet out (yes, I had trac off) and lost the back end in the right hander near my dad's house. I hit the a tree pretty hard with passenger side rear door. Fortunately, I'm OK and nobody else got hurt. It was pretty dark so it was hard to tell how focked the car was.

I know I'll get flamed for asking this, but yesterday I got new tires (S-03). Last night, I washed my car. I armor all'ed the sidewalls and thought since the tires were new I would put armor all over them so the whole tire would be jet fockin' black. It looked hella sweet. You guys don't think this might have caused my wreck, do you? I know Armor All is a little slick but I wonder if there was something else wrong with the tires also, or something?

Exclamation

Never had a peep out of mine ever, just snow - foam the whole car brakes and disks, then Jet-wash off, no squeal .
I must admit to not doing any brake-in, never have, just limit the use of the brakes in the first 1200 miles using the gears, in fact i use the gear all the time to slow the car.

Never had a squeak issue with my brakes. BMW suggest that when you wash your car, take a short drive and brake hard a few times. This will clean the rust and other debris or chemicals from the rotors. I do this all the time and never had any issues with my vert. Also be careful of tire dressing and other chemicals getting on the rotors.
Thanks
