Automotive Paint + Brake Calipers + Track Day = Burnt!

Just giving a heads up to the guys who have their calipers painted all purdy-n-shit with automotive paint. If you have an awesome track day your calipers will end up like the ones below. I cannot say I am upset because barreling this car around the track was a thrill like no other. These cars are heavy and big but the sheer horsepower coupled with the excellent handling turned quite a few heads at the track. I will be down in Texas Oct 25-25 for the event in Creston, TX (anyone want to join it would be awesome to meet up) -- https://www.thedriversedge.net/

Time to go with powder coating this next time around. I was reluctant to powder coat the first time due to the somewhat limited color choices. Prismatic Powders has a fairly decent selection so that is who I am going with this time (they are sending me a couple of their blue samples).

The front calipers didn't get beat up at all and it's probably due to the chunkiness of the caliper but the rears, oh boy, the rears got roasty-toasty.

Make sure you buy new caliper seals. You have to remove them for powder coating. Also, the electronic parking brake on the rear caliper... Make sure you find a shop that has done it before. Needs to be disengaged and activated thru the diagnostic. I've done quite a few and its a simple task with the right equipment

This picture indicates the amount of heat is generated by braking system (rotors and pads) of a high performance, big and heavy car. I'm not surprised if people complain about brake's noise!

I know you have a GoPro Twitch... We are gonna need some footage soon brotha!

You can see I lost the ass end when trying to unwind out of a corner. When this happened I had MDM enabled. Boy it sure is a difference with traction control on vs. just limited traction control on. I am sure someday I will be able to handle it but right now there is so much going on I will leave traction control on.

My next run was a lot better because I was a lot smoother and everything was in sync. I didn't get it recorded because the GoPro battery pooped out on me.

Boy once the brakes get hot (and I mean hot) you can smell them burning. I talked to a few guys with lower caliber BMWs and they were telling me about their brakes shaking, fatiguing, and outright not wanting to hold up. Not once did I feel any issues with the brakes on the M6 and as you can see I put em' to the test lol.

This color would look pretty nice as well. They are powder coated, color is called Tropical Breeze.

I have the CarboTech low dust pads on right now. They work great around the street as it keeps the brake dust to a minimum. The only issue I have with the decatted exhaust is the check engine light which isn't much of a problem -- just looks funky when it's on.

Love the video, B! You should really do the M Driving School. I'm actually thinking of going again, as I did it 4 years ago when they ran the E60 M5's and E92 M3's, but I really want to learn these new cars that we own. Want to meet me and do it together?
