By far the biggest influence on oil consumption is the way the engine was run in for the first 50-100 miles. Unless there is an manufacturing defect, pretty much anything else will be insignificant although the driving style will have an impact.

I didn't have to add oil to my '14 M6 GC until around 9700 miles. But, with my '12 M6 Vert, I had to add oil around 4500 miles. Same engine so I don't know why the big difference in when I had to add oil.
