'14 650i GC - Transfer Case Failure
The 650i GC is my first foray into the world of Germans, and the only reason I stayed away for so long was the perceived cost of repairs when things go wrong. With that in mind, I thankfully purchased a BMW extended warranty on my vehicle prior to rolling it off the (used) lot.
My $4,500 warranty is paying out just 6 months into my ownership of the vehicle, as my transfer cased decided to implode (then explode) last Friday while at work. In case you're wondering what that feels/sounds like, it starts out as a tick, then a shudder and a loud clanking sound, then smoke as one of the gears is forced out of the housing and fluid starts leaking everywhere. 51,5xx miles No lights or warnings BMW dealership noted "hole in transfer case - internal failure". $8,000 job - fully covered by BMW Extended Warranty |
