UK Car Warranty

The GC I'm getting this week is just out of manufacturers warranty, by about 1 month. I understand they are quite reliable but the thought of a gearbox failure that needs replacement fills me with dread to be honest. I want to get a third party warranty, but only one that will cover things like that. Does anyone have a recommended company/policy that would do what I need?

I continued with the BMW warranty (underwritten by someone else I think) on an old X5. It paid out for a new gearbox with hardly any fuss.

another plus point is that you can take it to a BMW dealer for repair. most 3rd party warranties have a limit on the hourly rate that would stop you from doing this.

Im looking at Warranty Direct who give you the options of paying a premium in order to allow main dealers to do the work. But the quote for the BMW warranty is not much more than paying the warranty direct premium.

Still a fortune per year though!

I would stick with BMW Extended Warranty, never had a problem with them on any claims on my previous BMW's. Anything goes wrong gearbox or turbo related it will be more than the cost of your warranty, also gives you piece of mind.

Ditto the above, stay with the BMW warranty, its fuss free no messing about with approval that sought of stuff, also has no claim limit if you go for the full cover (there are 3 levels). You'll probably find that there isn't much between BMW and the likes of WW and WD. I as I guess others have have had the BMW warranty cover its purchase price many times over.

Yeah the difference for the comprehensive BMW warranty vs the similar WD quote is only about £40 so I'll probably stick with the BMW one. Thanks

It's around about £960 if I remember right for the top warranty with BMW.

Got a quote from BMW for 740. It's expensive but I guess it's worth it for worst case scenarios.

Mine probably has more miles I'm guessing is why it's more bud. I bought mine from Bmw and I paid top dollar but I'm so glad I did as if any issues it's really painless and they just sort it out and I've found having a 6 you get better treatment

Yeah the BMW dealers certainly treat you better, all my others have come direct so this is the first one not from one, but hopefully if I get the bmw warranty then I can take it there an benefit from their painless experience and free coffee!
