I think they hide out their on purpose - I got busted up the road from a different BMW dealer a year or so back.

I agree. I was driving at over limit speed, but everybody, everyday drives at that speed there and he just pulled "me" over. Everyday I see cups running at the same speed over there without any attention to people who even pass them

Sadly our police are no longer "peace officers" but revenue/ENFORCEMENT officers.

They view themselves as some kind of "operators" enforcing their will and the law on us lowly civilians/subjects. Tread lightly around them and prepare...

That really blows on the ticket. You would think the cop would understand that you just got a beast and were doing what any guy in their right mind would do -- break in the tires.

I have been lucky. No tickets yet and car is getting a radar and laser jammer installed as we speak.

Is their a radar product available that integrates with the oem nav display? Or do all hard wired systems require some cutting into the dash?

The radars I would suggest that will keep the install clean and stealthy are the Passport 9500 and Beltronics STiR. It's a custom hard wire install and avoids the messiness on the dash or window.

I don't think there are any that integrate with the iDrive but the visible pieces on both Passport and Beltronics can be mounted up on the rear view area. I can snap a couple pics of mine when I get it back next week.

I went Passport 9500i. It is FULLY integrated on my X6 (check out pics in my profile).

There's a custom shop in Cali that integrates it into rear view mirror. When off, invisible. When on, matches interior perfectly - looks like a BMW OEM display.

They hid the control pad in the ashtray compartment.

What are your thoughts on the break-in period? I have owned many Bimmers but its my first M. Obviously, the dealer left out the break-in period and i rode it hard the first and second day but calmed down after i learned about it. Should i be worried?

For some reason I can't upload pics on iPhone. If you PM me am e-mail address I can send pics if you're interested.

I priced out the same system on my 650i. It's ~$2,500-$3,000 installed.

Software is in place right now to protect it during break in but you should still be careful with it.

I googled this and I have to say this looks pretty awesome. I have a shop installing the STiR now and I just called down there to tell them I want it installed this way as well. Glad you posted this!

Awesome! Glad to hear they can do it, most shops simply send the mirror to www.radar-mirror.com and have them do that part as it's tricky.

Ahh it looks like it is more complicated than just putting it behind the mirror. I am wondering now if they can do it or if I have to send it in to this place. Darnit.

I am wondering... Is the BMW mirror already translucent? I can see the orange lights that flash for the integrated garage door opener. So do you know if it's as simple as opening and mounting the device in the mirror?
