The dealer will run the auction numbers and go from there. It might/will be bloody. Best choice is to swaplease - especially with the 2016s going into production next month.

I'm not sure what the payoff quote on your lease would be, but couldn't you compare the payoff quote to what the car is worth (carmax appraisal for example) and see if that would yield less of a beating than trading it in and carrying the negative equity with you into the M6 you want? If the payoff amount is $80k and Carmax offers you $75k for it while the BMW dealership offers you $70k, that seems like less of hit. Either way, you're going to take a hit but I would rather take a slap in the face over a punch in the eye...

First go to carmax and get apraisal. Then find the M6 and go to dealer and start negotiation on both cars (yours and M6) The best time for this exchange is summertime. at that time you can get a good deal on the previous model (ie 2015 model this summer) while the new model is arrived or on the way and make sure to get 15-20% off MSRP. 6 er and M6 are top of the line BMW and really hard for dealers to sell so don't be shy and be the guy who offer them the sales price instead of them to offer you This is exactly what I did. I offer them a number (17% off MSRP) and left them my contact information incase they want to deal with me... they called me 2 hours later on sunday night

As a data point, I've had very good success on Swapalease. I transferred out of a 2012 650i convertible and a 2013 M6 convertible using Swapalease. I didn't have to pay anything to transfer out. |
