Coupe vs. gran coupe
Hi everyone,
I am going to order my new car this month. It was a hard decision as I had to choose between cls63 4matic and m6. Finally, I decided to get m6. But I am left with one question. Is there any difference in comfort if you compare grand coupe and coupe? and which one would you prefer? Thanks

For me.. someone who has owned just about every BMW series out there, the coupe was the best bet. I you really need a back seat, save 30k and get a M5. The M6GC is a very large car.. hell even the Coupe is large, but GC is a little more than a foot longer. Don't get me wrong, it is a gorgeous car, but if you are looking for a sport car.. go for the coupe... if you want 4 doors, save 30k and get a M5. In my opinion, the back seats on the GC are not that comfortable (I am 5'9, 160 lbs), and I did not find them very useful... almost comical in some aspects (kinda like the seats in the coupe).
Again.. that is just my two cents....

Well, given the longer wheelbase the GC does feel slightly more grounded than the Coupe. I find the rear seats in the Coupe to be usable only for petite women or small children. If you have someone considerably tall sitting upfront in the Coupe, by the time they adjust to a comfortable sitting position, the space behind them will have nearly evaporated. Regardless I went with the Coupe as I very rarely have more than one passenger, and the difference in ride quality overall is very small. The M6 in general is just a very comfortable car. I also really like how coupes look.

I have an M6 GC and it's a head turner, there aren't many out there and it's just bad ass looking
It has never been something like it build before. It's all about preference. I'm not much of a coupe person. |

Congratulation! IMO you got a good decision to choose M6 over CLS63!
I have coupe because I don't need 4 door and if I had, then definitely I had to choose M5 or M6GC. Gran coupe compare to coupe is 4.6" longer and 175 lb heavier (according to BMW NA website) and I have no idea if the back seat is fit for adult, but in case of Coupe is not!. Members who have GC can give you better idea since they have experience and know how passengers in back seat feel during the long trip. Overall, M6 is a comfortable car and since GC is a little heavier and longer, I guess must be a little more comfortable, however the handling must be slightly different, but neither is noticeable during daily drive.

I prefer the coupe. I think it looks more aggressive. I don't use the back seat so.

You aren't going to go wrong with either one. If this were my DD, it would be a GC all day long..... BUT, this is a toy for me, so the more aggressive the better and the coupe just looks more aggressive to me.
Good luck and post pics when it arrives!

I dont use backseats often, but its always good to have them I am still debating... As for the color, I decided to go with san mansion blue and white (or red) interior

I chose the GC over Coupe or M5.
I wanted the M6 over the M5 as I did not particularly like the interior of the M5. The dash is too high on the passenger side making it feel, to me, more isolated somehow. The GC is way more exclusive than the M5, in the UK there are less than 150 GC and several 1000 F10 M5. The GC is way better looking than the M5, IMO. I needed the rear seats and 4 doors. I've not had adults in the rear for long trips, but one 6 foot passenger commented that he was surprised how much room there was. A bonus in the GC is that the rear seats fold down, but they are far from flat and you need to be careful of the seat leather if leaving them folded down. They have saved me big problem on one occasion so far when I needed to put the rear seat from my E39 M5 in the M6. I think the rear of the GC looks slightly better than the Coupe with the higher brake light above the rear window and not part of the boot (trunk) lid. |

Gran coupe is really long. If you get your car with the CP package, it will be really low. We have a 640 Gran Coupe along with an M6 vert, and the Gran Coupe is harder to park than the M6 vert. Have to be really careful about the front, but then the car sticks out a lot in normal parking spots.

I love both, I wanted a usable back seat to fit my family. The coupe's back seat is unusable if your front passengers are near 6' tall.

I also had the same decision to make. I've just ordered a 2015 and I initially went with the coupe. However, I kept looking at both cars side by side and I just felt the GC was the right choice for me. I think a 4 door coupe is more exclusive and I prefer its lines. Contrary to what others have said I think the GC looks more aggressive.

It really depends if you are keeping your 535 or have another 4 door. If it was my choice and this is my daily or only 4 door, I would go with the GC. The GC has the combination of both M5 and M6, carrying the aesthetics of the M6 and the functionality of the M5. Also what others mention, the GC has folding rear seats and the M6 doesn't and you have the exclusivity factor. The folding seats come in handy for extra trunk space as you cant really put much on the M6 coupe rear seats. Plus you were already looking at a CLS which is a 4 door. If you are keeping the 535 or have another 4 door go with the coupe. Two door is obviously sportier than a 4 door. You have already made a good decision already by not going with the CLS , now just weighing out the 2 door vs 4 door.

IMO you can't go wrong with either one, it just comes down to needing the extra 2 doors or not. They both look stunning. Its no secret for me amongst my friends that the M6GC is my favorite M car out right now. The car is just a show stopper and you don't see to many then again you rarely ever see any M6's period. Both make statements def hard pick between the two but a great feeling knowing you have those two as your options

The M6 GC front doors bother me, they are awkwardly short. Might be paying attention to small details, but those are what matter when you're dropping $140k on a car, right?
Would tend to agree w/ other's opinions on if you want 4 doors - save yourself $30K and get an M5.

At 44 inches wide, they are two inches bigger than the front doors on my E39 and they are quite big. |
