Would you choose F12 M6 or Cayman S
So currently I have 08 e92 M3 and 17 Macan. They are daily drive cars.
m3 is driven by me always and wifey drives macan usually. Whenever we go out weekend, we take macan out and I am the one driving it. I am thinking to add another one just add some fun when we can. We have no kids yet, so this is why we just want to enjoy while we can. I have narrowed it to few, we dont plan to sell current m3 and macan. They would be all pretty much used cars, mainly looking for different style cars, convertible or 4dr or 2 seater. They have to be automatic tranny so my wife can drive too. My m3 is 6mt thou. 1. F13 M6 convertible 2. 981 Cayman and/or S 3. F80 M3 4. 2018 Jag f type 4 cyl or v6 S I do not track, nor drag. we just enjoy driving and love cruising Recommendation and opinions? Which one would you choose? Last edited by Yvette; 10-27-2017 at 02:35 AM.. |

Generally yes. though it depends what you like. To me the cayman has been the best handling street car I have driven in the affordable range, and I love our older 987 for what it is.
There are drawbacks, some where I can see a V6 (no 4cyl. Nope) S-Type being a better match for someone's driving/cruising habits tied to a sports car/coupe. The Cayman will be a bit small, narrow seats. Wider folks are not as comfy for example. Getting in/out can be a chore for some. The M6 is a giant GT car: amusing here in the NJ/PA area I usually see them with the top up: seldom with the top down. Get the coupe people :P F80 is very capable but to me, no soul. The engine sound which is important to me personally, is horrific: I'd prefer a M235 or M2 over it in a heart beat if coupe form. I do like the 4 door personally and would opt for an older E90 sedan if I had to have the M for the m goodies, or option out a nice 6sp 340i with sport package if going new. But, that *me*. For you, take some time to drive them and try to match your full likes with a good fit. There are plenty out there to choose from. - b |

I daily drive the M6 Convertible, it is huge compared to the other cars on the list and would be last as a fun week-end car (but first as a daily, and bvanlieu, top down 75%).
How big are you? I find the Jag to tight and I have to mash the seat against the back bulkhead. Cayman seems even tighter. M3 is a fricking sedan, nice car but not a week-end toy. If you fit the Cayman or the Jag

I don't even understand why you would compare those two cars. I would have the M6 because I need 4 seats and I want a big GT car.
The comparison simply doesn't make sense other than the fact that they are both fast. The driving experience, cost, equipment levels and practicalities are totally different and so what car you should go for out of the two should be dependent on your own personal needs and circumstances, making anyone else's opinion irrelevant. Different if you were talking about the M6 vs S63 or RS7 or CLS63 etc |

2018 Jag F-type v6s for me or a used 2015 F-type V8R, the v6 is good but a V8 f -type sound insane and much faster. I like the M6 too as i drive a 14 M6 GC but i chose the M6 because i want a car that i can daily, fits 4 people and can have some fun on the back roads.

I have a 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster and have had a couple 718 Cayman S as loaners. They are one of the best handling roadsters around. Very fun, but lacks a lot of bells and whistles.
I also have a 2016 Jaguar F-Type R. It's a fast car, supercharged V8 AWD makes for an incredible feel. Handling is not that great however. Jittery and sensitive most of the time and suspension stiff as a rock. The 2015 models don't even come with AWD and it's known to be hard to tame. |

If you enjoy driving and cruising with the wife go with the F13 M6 convertible. What could be better than cruising around with the top down in that beast? Sure, you may need to keep the top up on those cold Canadian days but it is very warm and quiet with the top up. When the sun comes out and it warms up the car is a glorious cruiser. I have a 2014 M6 convertible. I live near Chicago where it is not exactly warm all the time. It is my first convertible and I love it top up or down. I don't think I will ever be without a convertible again. It is just fun.
