Bluetooth phone but not media?

Why can I get phone via Bluetooth but can't get my songs via my iPhone?

I'm not a newb, all my sleds have Bluetooth/media/blah blah, I just can't get the media via Bluetooth, just when I plug it in to my usb

Is this car that much more different than my 4 and 5 series?

have you enabled both Audio and Phone on bluetooth?
When you enable Bluetooth there is an option to choose. You have to choose both...

Bingo. Idk why that wasn't checked, I assumed it defaulted to it as my other 2.

I'm having the opposite problem - only BT works. So for it to work via cable, I have to press play on the phone? Resetting the network settings on the phone fixes this for a while and then it goes back. Others have posted on this as well (something with either IOS8 or the Iphone6). Anyone else having this?

I have this problem sometimes as well. Sometimes I can be plugged in I my phone and it may be 10+ min before the car "sees" the iPhone even though it's connected via Bluetooth.

I do know there is an update available (for my VIN) that says the updates cover some of these issues, I just need to download it and upload it to the car.

I have the same issues as above. If you happen to view a video and subsequently plug in your phone, it's not able to sleect the music app or whatever as the source. I unplug my phone, double tap my home button and quit just about everything. If that fails, I restart my iphone. Generally, a restart is the only way I can reliably scroll through music and select a song.

it seems that when you plug in your iphone through USB, the bluetooth audio option gets disabled until either the car or phone is restarted.
