clear bra recs

Despite my personal care and obsessive wash and waxing, my former 335i got paint chips on the front fascia that I would like to avoid with my new (2013) 6 series. Anyone have experience and advice with using a 3M clear bra to protect the finish?

Got mine done with Suntek. Did the whole front of the car and 24" up onto the hood as well as the 2 front fenders and back of the 2 mirrors. Guy who did mine said that although 3M was one of the first to make the clear bras they are not the best. Stories about cracking, peeling over time because the product has no flexibility. The Suntek brand has give and stretches over the car so covers seamlessly and flexes as needed. Can also be removed if needed without any type of damage to the paint. Paid $750 for mine. relatively cheap, smart investment if you ask me.

Good to hear. It turns out that the local installer uses Suntek too for similar reasons (yellowing). How long since your installation? Is it working for you?

Only had it done a couple of months back so can't draw any conclusions yet. But it gives me piece of mind as I'm driving on the highway-especially with all the construction going on and gravel everywhere, that the front of the car is protected. Also when I wash it I notice that bugs, bug-guts and even tar comes off easily which is also a +.

Thanks for the input. I have seen these on some really high-end cars and can't imagine that they are a bad idea. Just a question of value for me.

Xpel "heals" swirls and other minor imperfections from the sun, but it has a slight orange peel to it. Suntek has a glossier finish compared to Xpel, but I don't know if it has the same healing characteristics.

But either one is better than 3M, which starts to fade and yellow over time.

im happy with it, this is the third car ive done with xpel. like what mmg640 said, its suppose to heal minor damage, etc. and not yellow. every new car i get, straight from the dealers lot, it goes to my guy to get clear bra and tint.
