Problems with Radio

I have a 2013 650i GC

Every now and then i would hear crackling from the speakers when i would disconnect a call from blue tooth. The crackling would stop when I made another call or listened to my voicemail. One day the blue tooth audio started going in and out. The no sytem tone message would pop up and then it started turning on and off. It finally just turned off. Could it be the amp that is causing this. The heads up display is not working and no other chimes in the car work like seatbelt or usual chimes. My screen is black and wont turn back on.

Based on the screen also going black, I’d say it’s the head unit itself that has died. You should be able to find a cheap used on off eBay to try. I believe you’ll have to code it to your car because I believe they are coded to the VIN. There’s a guy I got to remotely code one for me as an upgrade that I can recommend if you want to go down that route.

It may be something else, but if the sound was going out and the screen, my guess would be the head unit died. If it was just the amp I’d suspect the screen to be functioning properly still.
