Yes, bit of a shock right? I used to average about 14-15 in my E90 M3 and so was a bit shocked to only see about 11-12mpg average in the 650. I wonder what the M-engines are like??

I drive mostly in sport and mostly around town, but not too much traffic so can zip about a bit, but still was a bit of a surprise!

Just did a road trip from Phila to Nova Scotia and back. On the return trip I reset the trip computer. For 1200 miles of highway driving, I averaged 71 mph and got 26 mpg. Not bad in my opinion. 2013 650xi.

You drove 3 miles in what seems to be city traffic.

Reset the stats, drive it like you regularly would for a few days or a week, then check the MPG.

My 2014 M6 GC averages about 13 MPG city driving Sport mode and occasional eco; stop and go traffic downtown San Diego. highway (Sport + mode) it's about 22-25 depending on speed. Overall about 17 - 18 MPG combined.

For M engine (M6) if you drive the car the way an M-car is supposed to be driven you can get 10-11 over the town. If you drive like Toyota (lol) around 14 in town and 20 on free way ... I think you guys drive your cars very hard because I used to get 15-16 when I had my F13 650i and now I am around 11-12...

Very small sample sizes are meaningless when it comes to average mileage. Look at it after a tank full.

WOW- That's pretty extreme. I have about 28k on the clock, averaged about 20MPG before DINAN S1 conversion, 16MPG now. That's actually calculating with trip ODO also to confirm readout on dash. in traffic I always use Comfort +, but unless you are in SPORT+ mode 24/7, I don't think 10MPG average is realistic.

I average 19 MPG in comfort mode, mixed HWY city driving.

Easily average 25 MPG in steady state cruise control at 70 MPH or so.

I do drive gently with just occasional bursts of WOT as needed.
