Comparing the $108k M6 to a $146k SL63 is idiotic. Not to mention one is a 'small' 2 seater roaster and the other is a 'huge' 4 seater coupe. And leaving the setting in comfort is the last straw.

^ He tested in comfort due to the bumpy (back) roads, this was the best setting for that kind of road.
On circuit in Sport+ M6 offers much more intense feelings |

iDrive baffling? It's the easiest of them all!
And wobbles a lot? Chris should've known that you should put it in Sport or Sport+ if you want it Sporty? I've driven 2 of these M6's for around 100 miles each on different roads. Freeways, twisties and regular roads. The M6 is the better all-around car, but still with the M touch. The market has clearly changed and BMW has to adjust to what the market wants, sacrificing a little bit of their M character, but not totally taking it out. |

And I don't think he is talking about suspension setup but how solid (strong) the frames are... Change the suspension setup to a hard setting would just make things worse... (more frame twisting) correct me if I'm wrong...!! Thats why Chris said comparing the M6 convertible to the SL would be no good so he choose the coupe instead. |

I think Chris should at least elaborate on exactly how this, "Wobble" occoured and on what road(s).
At the point in the video when he says it, it shows the M6 with a video camera from the outside showing him and the steering wheel. It's hard to notice but there is a bit of vibration but I can't tell if it's from the M6 or from the camera. What are we talking about here? Structural rigidity? Loose steering wheel? I mean how can the M6 Convertible be so bad that he couldn't compare them and then make a Face Gesture like the M6 Cab is trying out for the BAJA 400? I need Tiff Needle to test out the M6...

I think BMW is trying to do too much with the M6. I have a 650 with a tune and it 'feels" as much as a M6 as I need on the street. M cars need the track to justify their price etc ... I had a E92 M3 and I felt the same way. Great car "but" it really needs the track to shine.
AMG makes great street and track cars and recently adding AWD to their AMG's will make them the best (besides Porsche) car for those who demand great street cars and track cars. The Audi S7, S8 have really stepped up in this area. Besides, a Mustang etc will be a better track car. You wouldn't care as much about it getting damaged vs a $100K plus car (unless your really rich). There are many cars now that are fun to drive and cheap. BMW must evolve with the times. Produce a real sports car! Last edited by jg_BMW_indy; 02-08-2013 at 09:27 PM.. Reason: M |

I don´t get the haters, very honest review marking up the good and bad of the two. Seems me the M6 does better on the road based on Chris´ comments but the SL has more feel.
To me, just the noise put them apart, the M5/6 just sound like expensive 4 bangers whereas the Merc sounds like a real V8, I think I wouldn't buy any of them, merc is too ugly and the M6 is not a true sports car, for that money I'd rather have a plain Carrera and a normal 3 series for the daily. |

The new m6 is such a beauty. I would take it any day over the merc. Even if the merc was faster.

The SL63 AMG is not a direct competitor to M6 coupe. One is a 2 seater the other one is 4 seater. He should have compared the M6 to a CL63 AMG.
Also, if he drove the cars around race tracks and roads why did he say he did not mess much with settings. He should have messed with the settings and compared both at their best settings against one another. One thing is for sure.....I agree with him. The M6 is better of the two looks wise and that is the one I would take home. All the extra money I save from not buying a SL63 AMG would allow me to pick up BMW's super sport bike.
