20in All Season Tires
I have a 2014 640GC M-sport but selected to get the 19in rims. Well, now I'm second guessing my decision and have been looking at upgrading to the original oem 20's that I should have gotten. My challenge is that the run-flats that come with those wheels I hear are horrible. I've been searching for A/S tires that size that I know ride well (Michelins) but they don't make that tire in the Pilot Sport A/S. Any recommendations for A/S in 20's non run-flats? Thanks

I recommend Continental's DWS all-season performance tires. DWS stands for dry, wet and snow. They also have Continental DW, which may be what you need in NC since you don't get too much snow but I don't know how well those do in icy conditions. I got rid of the summer tires that came with my 650 xDrive and haven't regretted it all, especially after all the snow and low temps we've seen this winter. I had run-flats (Goodyear) on the 550 I had and they weren't too bad, but they prone to get bubbles after hitting minor potholes. I had to replace two of them b/c I hit a pothole the size of a kiddie pool up here. For what it's worth, I hit another HUGE pothole last night and the Continentals held up and there was no rim damage. The other bonus for the Continentals is that they come with a road hazard warranty and the treadlife is 6yrs/50k miles. I ordered mine from Tire Rack and had them shipped to the dealer for install. Hope this helps.

I have these on my Audi TT and can atest in the snow, they are great, no problems I. This tough winter. Great on all surfaces and I'm getting these again once I can find a 650gc I like price wise.

Why are you second guessing? I'm about to order the 20"a but occasionally read about how worse the ride is so I start to think about the 19s. Thing is , I've been driving 525 and 16" rims for last 8 years, I think it's time to sacrifice plush ride for a sportier ride. But curious, why do you want to go from 19 to 20?

Purely the look. Most of the GC's I see have 20's and they are growing on me. From what I hear, the poor ride is mostly due to the Dunlop run-flats. From what I've heard, the people that have switch to non run-flats and better tires have experienced a significantly improved ride. I must admit the car rides great in the 19in Michelins that are on mine now. |

That's my understanding regarding people that I know. That's why I submitted the question on the forum to try and get a broader perspective. Hopefully, we will get more insight. I'm still debating.
