Cool 2012 Geneva: 6 Series Gran Coupe Makes World Debut

BIMMERPOST NEWS
2012 Geneva: 6 Series Gran Coupe Makes World Debut
29
COMMENTS

The 6 series based models - the 6 Series Gran Coupe (official info thread) and the M6 Coupe are front and center as the focus of the BMW display at the 2012 Geneva show. This show also represents the 6 Series Gran Coupe's world premiere. It will have its North American debut at the New York International Auto Show in early April. The color seen on the car is called Frozen Bronze Metallic.

The 6 Series Gran Coupe hits the US market in early Summer as a 640i model, with the 650i Gran Coupe and 650i xDrive Gran Coupe (which is the model being displayed at Geneva) following later in the Summer.

Pricing has been announced for the 640i Gran Coupe starting at $76,895 (full pricing details).

The M6 Gran Coupe is currently undergoing final evaluation phase testing, during which we've spied prototypes multiple times.

The interior is very posh, only a little too much.
Anyway: If I were looking for a 4 door, the GC would be the answer!

This is one beautiful car. I can't wait to see it at the Amelia Island Concours D'Elegance this weekend. I know the M6GC will be a monster!!!

looks like it is also getting the ambiance lighting on the b pillar like the new 3 series. Look at the pictures with the b pillar.

The more I look at it the better it looks. Just stunning. I'm not a fan of the A7 looks weird. The CLS on the other hand is a great machine. CLS 63 or M6GC?? Hmmm. Tough decision.

Interior is very different and nice. Exterier on the other hand, I'd call it an old man's CLS.

Is that what the black plastic thing is in the upper portion of the B pillar? Nice touch. The ambient lighting transforms these cars at night. I'm not a fan of orange, but it works in these cars since every single light and letter changes from white to orange when it gets dark. Glad to see them embracing that in this car.

I prefer the xDrive logo beneath the panel indicators like on the coupe and convertible (and most other Bimmers). It's too much on the back of the car.

Wondering if that means multi colored ambient lighting.

I like the interior, great attention to details. Don't know why they call this a 5 seater though.

Completely agree. They're really pushing it with the 6ers. My 6 coupe is a 2 seater (2 + 1 at the most). I think they would've been better off making it a 4 seater instead of a 4 + 1 and putting a nice console in the back between 2 bucket seats. It's not like anyone is going to fit in that middle seat straddling the A/C controls.

very impressed with what they did with this. i was expecting something uninspiring. at this point, I think its safe to say BMW did THIS 6 series exactly right - all of it, the coupe, the vert, the gran coupe, and the M variants - all beautiful.
