M6 GC vs RS4/6 for the family man.....
Hi - new to the forum, and have already spent hours on it (much to wife's annoyance!)
We have just had our third child, and currently have a 5 series Touring. I want to give that to my wife for the daily run around and then get another 'nicer' weekend car (I don't drive during the week). Have fallen in love with the M6 GC and tested one yesterday and was blown away by it. Even going slowly it has a real sense of theatre about it (something I felt missing in the M5). The interior with full leather was such a special place - I could see me smiling every time I sat in the car, which is exactly what I want out of something "special". You can get 3 kids in the back I have been told (two in boosters, and 1 in a car seat) and given they are so small leg room will not be an issue. The 4 doors even makes it sensible! But I am worried that the boot may be too small for all the kit that comes with kids, and it would be a disaster to not take the car because the 5 series can take bikes and this cannot (and I am not going to be the dad who tells his kids they cannot take a bike to the park as it won't fit in the car!!) An RS4 or RS6 avant are very good cars, and would seem more obvious but I just don't have the same emotional connection to them and it seems silly to spend so much money and always be regretting the fact its not an M6 As you can see I have got myself into a right state. Can anyone with small kids advise on the practicality of the GC as a family car Many thanks |

Do you mean M6 with RS7 and M5 with RS6?
as far as I know, journalists compare A7 with 640, S7 with 650 and RS7 with M6 due to power output. The same thing for 535 with A6 and 550 with S6 and M5 with RS6

Unfortunately if you need 3 kids and all that goes with them, the M6 GC may not be what you need, the RS6 Avant would have the space and power, you need to check both out with the kit you regularly need and try to fit it all in.
I did this with the LCI M5 which I have and then with the M6 GC CP which I now have on order. Got a feeling the M6 will not be big enough though.

Thanks guys
I know these cars are not like for like - but if a M6 does not fit then I don't want to look at an A7.....I would rather take an RS6 for added space So I suppose its easier to ask one question: does anyone on this board have 3 kids and use the car? Any experience or tips much appreciated |

I would NOT like to have 3 kids sit in the back of the M6 GC.
Irrespective of how comfortable they might be and how easy/difficult it would be to fit 3 car seats or booster seats (which I think would be hard/impossible) the large rear center console really does make this impractical except as a once in a long while event. Kids clambering over the seats to straddle the center console would be a recipe for causing damage to both the seats and the console. The 6 GC boot is pretty large, but as already mentioned the opening is not great. You can get a pram in quite easily as it's quite long, but if you try to combine that with some medium to large suitcases you'll have problems. Yes, the seats fold, but they don't fold flat and you can't fold them with 3 rear passengers. Seat folding is more for the occasional long item you might want to carry, and even then it's not easy to get long things through the boot opening, this is not an estate or even a hatch back. If you regularly carry 3 rear passengers of any size, don't get a 6 series. |

I was looking into the GC mainly due to the larger size of the back seat. I have 3 small children, two in isofix seats and one just onto a booster seat.
Took out a 640 for a test drive with the family on board. Back seat space was actually not a problem size wise, both isofix seats were attached to the isofix points and the booster seat did fit in the middle. The problem was the console in the middle does protrude into the cabin and even though my little girl is only 3, she had to rest her feet on it. After a while she wasn't very comfortable and voiced her opinion as only a 3 year old can! Boot space was ok, we have a Cameleon which went in without trouble but there was not much useable space left. The boot opening wasn't too good for getting the pushchair in and out but it was workable. As much as I wanted it to work and tried to convince myself it did work Mrs B gave me the look that said enough to convince me otherwise

M6 Coupe with RECARO Performance SPORT Car Seat
Whats up guys- first post on forum actually..
I just installed a RECARO Performance SPORT seat in my new 2014 M6 Coupe. Man that thing was hard to install. Does anyone here have one in theirs? The back buckles were hard as hell to get in, belt isn't long enough. Did i do something wrong? Is it the wrong seat for the car? Or is it just a car seat in a sports car- just dont mix??? Sorry for the unrotated picture, not sure how to rotate after a upload.. Eric- |

haha...
It's funny, last night I was in one of our local BMW dealers windows shopping with my friend looking for M6. we found one 2014 convertible with huge discount for 1500 per month (lease term). Then we went to Audi on the other side of street and we looked at RS5. we were curious to see the payment. the sales man used his calculator and gave us the exact payment: 1555 per month. I told him with this payment we can get M6. He claimed that Audi RS is exclusive and not compare to any M car. when I told him about comparison between RS5 and M4 he disagreed and stated that M4 is comparable with S5 anyways the discussion ended up to A5 vs 428, S5 vs 435 and finally RS5 vs M4... and he suggested us to get M6 instead of RS5 with the same payment Since M6 is RS7 competitor lol

lol... Yeah he saw my M6 when we were leaving the dealer and my friend asked him to judge (since my car was parked next to one of their RS5) between two cars! He just smiled
