Though I am trying to drop my M Sport with rectangular tips all together and do quad tips with an M6 diffuser and v style CF diffuser, I think the chrome looks good. In the end it's a matter of preference and it's good that you have pics of both to make a better decision.

Did you fit the m performance rectangular tips too? Or are you US based with them as standard?

I have the retrofit 640d square tips, but mine are fitted with the M6 diffuser. I thought about black but left the, chrome. My car is space grey.

Any chance you have a pic from the rear? Good to know they fit well with the m6 diffuser in case I change it in the future.

Garage List
The blue 640d looks better than the bronze 6er - as an M-Sport to M-sport retrofit. That said I find the round OEM exhausts quite nice so not sure it's worth all the trouble.

Personal preference I guess. Round ones look ok to me but square ones look infinitely better IMO. Plus it's only ordering the parts and 15 mins of fitting so not much trouble.

Hi 325 -bucks ,so when you say 15 mins(ish) does that mean the square tips fit straight over the standard round ones with no cutting the old tips off?
I also have the 640d and want to do this , could you post the links to the bits I need , if it's not to much trouble?
Any pics of yours with all the bits fitted?

The old black tips pull off. Might take some persuasion but they slip off and the new ones slip on and tighten with a bolt on the clamp that comes with it. The diffuser has 2 expanding revits that come off and then apparently it just unclips and the new one clips back on. However I haven't done it yet as the parts haven't arrived yet, and now my car is in the dealers. I expect that I should be able to get it all fired by the end of the week if I want to keep them chrome.

There are only 2 parts needed which I've put in a few posts back on page 1

The picture of the blue car back in this thread that I posted should be how it looks when it's done.

You might not be able to contact them till tomorrow to get a discount account. Just be aware that I've ordered those parts being 99% sure they are correct. If they aren't for any reason then obviously I don't want to be responsible for you getting the wrong thing!

Parts have arrived, here are some terrible pictures! car could be back with me tonight or tomorrow so hopefully I'll get it fitted soon. I think that seeing them in the flesh, with the inside of the tips coated black, I may leave them chrome for the time being and see how I feel

The 640D tips do slip off, but to retrofit the BMW square tips you need to cut quite a few inches off of the exhaust itself. You have to cut them right back to leave a stub.
