Got the car back this evening. It's still the bloody same, same vibration from the day I picked it up. As you can appreciate I'm really pissed off so I'm going down to the dealer in the morning to make a massive fuss!

That's a shame. Mine does appear to have gone now. Long drive tomorrow so we'll see. But seems to be silky smooth now.

Did 400 mile round trip today....vibration/wobble still there I've written to the dealer to tell them I want engine mounts, torque convertor, and suspension checked and to get it booked in soon.

How did your dealer meeting go today? Did you make a fuss?

That's a bummer I wonder if it a common problem with the 6? I called in the end and glad I did as there were no senior managers on site until Monday. Spoke to the service advisor (who's been very good to be fair) and he's also very frustrated by the situation. He said its best to speak to them to see where we go from here. I did express my feelings of frustration and disappointment in a controlled manor and said ultimately I want my money back and hand them the keys. I really don't think it's the wheels (it can't be now) so be interesting to see what they are going to say on Monday. Will keep you posted.

Hopefully you'll get some progress on Monday. I don't want to go down the route of giving the car back. The vibration is minor but it is there, although much better since new tyres. I've narrowed it down now to between 68-75mph and 1500-1900rpm. Everything else about the car is almost perfect so it would be a shame to end up giving the car back, hopefully it won't come to that

Yes it's not an ideal situation but iv lost the love for the car. Mine is at it's worse at 75mph but it can be felt from 20 mph plus. If I put my hand on the passenger headrest I can feel a resonance, slow at first then it gets faster with speed.

Thats a shame, I know how 1 issue can ruin the car especially one that is there all the time. Hopefully if they do fix it then you'll love it again!

Yes it is a real shame as the car is good looking, well spec'ed and fast but like you say there's always that little dampener to take the shine off of it.

hey fellas -- there are some other threads about this vibration/wobble issue. in the states, it seems to be limited to the 650 (v8) x-drive line (based on anecdotal evidence) whilst the 640 (i6) x-drive line doesn't appear to exhibit the issue. ive noted well that you are driving a diesel (not available states-side) so that appears to be like the v8 vibration issues. are yours x-drive as well?

No s drives as no x drive option available in the U.K. Iv been following that thread but it seems more to do with engine speed rather than road speed but it could be related who knows.

Also April 14! but with 55k on

I bought it as although it's high for the age, I will be doing 8000 miles a year so will bring the average right down!

have you noticed these issues since you first got the car (i.e., day 1)? or did they develop after you've put on x miles/ years?

well I've only had my car for 3-4 weeks or so, there since day one. Hence why I want mine fixed.

that's just brutal. the car looks sooo good but to have these operational issues just sux; they must really ruin the experience!! not to mention the money you've put out for it. i'm in the process of ordering a new one but with both the 650i x-drive and now the 640d s-line showing these issues, it has me (re)thinking it.

can't speak for the 650 but for me, I'm sure new it wouldn't have had these issues, none of my other BMWs have ever had anything like this from new, I'm sure my issue is just down to something worn or misaligned considering its mileage, so I hope it's fixable. It's still under warranty for a few more months, plus then the approved used warranty on top of that, so I hope it will be sorted, it's just frustrating in the meantime.

and the minor positive (if you can see it that way) for me, is that my vibration/wobble is only noticeable or there at motorway cruising speeds. Normally that would be a problem for most but for me, I do so little motorway driving at the moment that it won't bother me very often. Obviously I want it fixed though, as I do a fair number of 600+ mile trips to Germany every year so that would be hard to deal with over that distance

Gents
Mightily disappointing to hear this...
I have had my 640d since new 2013 and never noticed anything....44k now...
I don't know what to say.....
I've even got sh1t. £100 per corner 18" alloys with. On non run flat winter tyres on for 4 winters now, and the ride composure is sublime...
If it wasn't for my wife I'd settle for 19"s all round with non run flats... But my wife is in it for the posing factor, so it's got to be 20's....!!!!
All with no vibes mind....
Don't know what to say really..
