Is a drop necessary with 21" wheels on an f06 gc?
Need some advice...purchasing a set of 21" forgiato maglias. How will plus sized wheels look without a drop with the current m6 oem suspension? I would like to leave my springs as is. Thx in advance for help.

To me a drop is needed when going aftermaket wheels esp. going for a larger diameter. The wheel gap appears to be more obvious in my opinion. On the M6 coupe the wheel gap is not that bad. You may get away with it. Not sure about the M6GC. Its really up to you, if you are fine with the wheel gap then just keep it stock.

A drop is necessary in my opinion. If you're going for custom wheels, I don't know much about Forgiato, never been into their stuff, but if they are anything like other custom forged wheel manufacturers like HRE where they make vehicle specific custom fitments, it's better to have the car stanced properly before fitting wheels. Specially if you're going for wheels larger than OEMs. 21s on the normal gap would look huge, the car would end up looking like a yo-yo-fresh-baller-mobile, unless that's the look you're looking for a drop is in order.

You definitely need a drop...but be careful if you do H&R springs or who does the install for you...(we can't figure out what could've happened / this company did a lot of work on my cars before...)
My rear shocks got blown after i installed the H&R springs....i'm w/out my M6 for 10 days already...was told 3-4 weeks for new OEM shocks to come from Germany. I bought a set of KW V3's ( Hunter 5179 from this forum) to fix the problem...lmao |

Thanks for the advice. I had H&Rs on my f10 and drop was too aggressive and the ride was just ok, this is why I ask. I am really happy with OEM set up suspension on f06. I had BMW install my springs previously...paid $900 unfortunately, but install was flawless.

I have a 2015 M6 Gran Coupe w/ 21" DPE wheels, but my car also has the Comp Package, which has a different suspension set-up and has the car sitting much lower, so I don't need to drop the car any further -- it looks perfect the way it is. If you do not have the Comp Package, I would suggest lowering it.

I would go with the KW HAS Kit vs. getting springs. You can adjust the height, the ride is great, and you retain EDC.

The next day after i had them installed, i went to put the 22" wheels on and we noticed that the rear shocks were leaking...probably drove 40-50 miles on them, if that...and the shop that did the installation is a very reputable shop in South Fl....we still don't know what caused the shocks to fail...anyway they are taking care of it , no questions asked...i missed my baby..had it for 1 week and now more than 10 days w/out it.....

My preference is either the KW or Dinan suspension kits. It works perfect with the factory EDC shocks to retain its function and you can adjust it to your height preference. Easy installation and the vehicle rides so well. A lot better then just adding lowering springs. |

I actually have 12's in the rear and my wheels were designed for 325's too. However, I didn't want to go with Pirelli's, so I went with 305's, since Michelin's largest size is 305/25/21 in the Super Sport. The tires look a bit stretched because of this, so for my next set of tires, I might try the PZero's, just to have that 325 stance in the rear. LOL!
