Is that the new Audi A1 parked in front of the 6 series?

Thank god - a soft top Was so afraid they would screw it up with a goofy looking, space taking, weight adding hard top

In short, BMW has different stages/rules (called 'disguise level red', 'disguise level yellow', etc) depending on the release date of a car. Employees wouldn't be allowed to park early mules/prototypes outside (closed garage parking is mandatory in these cases), but cars like this with a more or less imminent release are perfectly fine to be parked outside.

Yep, the A1 has been out in Germany for some weeks.

I used to be a fan of the hard-top until I started to notice the unappealing hard lines it created in the rear section / trunklid of the car. Not to mention the seams that connect the roof to each other looked so bad especially in light colored cars. BMW's decision to forgo the shadow trim in favor of the chrome trim also ruined lines.

that's a bad lid -- my guess it's a fake

nice rear window and blind spots due to the flying buttresses -- no way that will go into production like that

Why would BMW care? There are pictures all over the internet showing exactly what the X3 looks like, who's gonna bother stripping off its camo just to see the roundel?

They cover up the roundel only because it isn't a finished product.

I think that 6 series looks great, it has nice proportions and it seems like its styling will fit in nicely with the Z4.
