Question How many people drive with the engine on/off turned ON?

I do not.

In fact, I hate it.

I do. You think it is bad, try it on the M3

Mine is always off - I have a 2012...

If I had a 2013, I would always keep it off. A cool experiment would be to see what happened to the fuel economy if I drove a 2013 650xi with the system turned on to see what happened to my fuel economy. I currently get about 11 mpg (+/- 1 mpg), but I think the auto start/stop (A.S.S. ) is a BandAid on a bullet hole. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't tolerate the annyance for a few miles per gallon extra...

I actually don't think we are talking a few miles per gallon savings with start/stop. Likely a fraction of a MPG. But I did test drive a '13 650 with it and it's not really bad at all. And look at the bright side - got to be one hell of a heavy duty starter !!

It all depends on the type of traffic I find myself in - if it's stop/start with hardly any pause between, I disable it. If I think there'll be longer stationary periods, such as at traffic lights etc., I leave in enabled.
It's a function that I initially disliked, but now I've become used to it, I quite like it and, after all, it doesn't quite require an in-depth understanding of rocket science to extend your finger and push a button to select the mode of choice. Having read previous and exhaustive posts on this subject, elsewhere on the forum, I simply cannot fathom the depth of vehemence that's been written about something so trivial - if you don't like it, switch it off.

It's probably the first thing I am going to code off when I get the car. I might use it sometimes but it shouldn't default to on.

I did get the update patch that toggles the function.
Nowadays always off.

I think the A.S.S. is more about emissions than fuel economy.

Correct and it has a significant effect on the road tax bracket, in which it's placed, here in the UK.

My daughter has a 2013 F10 and she has the on/ off system and it bugs me to no end, can't stand it ,I don't care how much gas it saves me. It should be an option, not standard, yes I know you can shut it off but still!

Once they did the software update it has been off ever since. Now its like every other car I have ever owned. It's just a gimmick to try and convince the US government car companies are trying to help conserve. I don't need anyone to tell me how to spend my money, how to drive, how to conserve, and the way to do it. So build cars and we will decide how to program them.

Have it on my 640d, once you get used to it, it really is no big deal. Before the 640 thought I would hate it but it works fine.

Never been a fan of the start/stop. I had my dealer code it off before I took delivery.
