When to change water pump

On my 2007 530i the water pump failed at about 90k in the middle of a long vacation. Needless to say it caused me big headache. My 2013 640i(N55) GC is at 56k right now so I am wondering if/when I should get the water pump replaced. Recommendations? How has your experience been so far with N55 engine?

could break tomorow or it could break in 3 years..

My original was good till 130k miles my replacement oem one broke down in under 5k miles thank god it came from fcp so free replacements for life

Are they similar? I had mine go on my old e60 and it was electric water pump ? .. roughly around 1k for the pump

Ouch! Can you tell us which brand water pump you used that failed so fast?
