Compression Test Numbers

I just recently purchased a 2016 BMW 650i Xdrive Gran Coupe with 67,000 miles and the car has ran great so far with no problems! However, I wanted to perform a compression test just to see what numbers I would get.

The Results:
Cylinder 1: 160
Cylinder 2: 162
Cylinder 3: 160
Cylinder 4: 160
Cylinder 5: 180
Cylinder 6: 180
Cylinder 7: 180
Cylinder 8: 178

This is my first compression test so I'm learning as I'm going. Is the difference of psi between cylinders 1-4 and cylinders 5-8 concerning? Please if you have any thoughts or opinions I would greatly appreciate it!

I’m so glad you brought this up. I never see mention of compression testing on these vehicles, and was curious where to look it up in new TIS.
For your F06 650i x-drive, I found the following:

“11 00 Compression pressure N63B40/44O1
Compression pressure (permissible deviation of cylinders from each
other < 2.5 bar) || bar || 10 to 15 bar”

Given that 1 bar = 14.5 psi, I’d say yours is looking pretty darn healthy there!

I am interpreting this somewhat cryptic table to mean that acceptable compression is between 145 and 218 psi, with a permissible deviation between cylinders of 36 psi. Pretty wide tolerance, but then again my basis for comparison is narrow.
