SMS Display in iDrive Screen using iPhone 6s
I used to view SMS messages received by my iPhone 6s in my 2012 car's iDrive screen. That car had the CIC system.
But my new 2015 car with the NBT system does not show SMS messages. Is this what others experience? I have not changed any of my phone's settings since getting the new car. |

Do you have "Office"? I'm not sure if all 6 series cars have it, but I know in my 5 it had to be enabled through coding if not there from the factory.

Another tip for those with cars around this age is using BMW Labs and IFTTT. It is annoying to setup but once done it is brilliant and allows way more features that might be useful.
SMS display on the smaller half of the idrive split screen pops up alone for specific time periods. It also allows lights to be turned on using specifics systems (like Phillips wifi bulbs), other things are mileage in spreadsheet, parking and if you have a sat nav destination in place will text someone when you have 10 minutes left to go to your destination. I still do not understand why BMW stopped BMW labs so early on. Probably because the integration to get it working is a pig. But, once done it is really good. |
