Next generation M6 (2017) pic

Germany's leading and usually well informed car magazine "Auto Motor und Sport" has published an article in this week's edition about the upcoming new 5-series, to be released in 2016. Side story was a short text and pic about the new M6 coupe, scheduled for production in 2017.

Translated article text:
"M6 coupe, again with V8 engine."
"The currently 560 hp producing V8 will remain in the programm, because it is able to deal with the current and upcoming gas-regulations. Power will be raised to around 600 HP. A convertible is also planned for production.

I'd be really surprised if there were any kind of truth to this. That picture looks like one of the unofficial renderings made for the F13 M6 before people knew what it looked like mixed with F30 design cues, and 2017 sounds way too early for a new model. M cars usually have a 5-6 year lifespan and a 1-2 year gap between model new generations. 600hp also sounds very odd for a power bump. I'm think this has little to no truthfulness. Pure speculation.

If its 500lbs lighter than today's F13 would be perfect

I wouldn't be surprised about the 600hp since the next gen M5 is being rumored to have the same amount

That would be sick, as well as a very advanced all wheel drive system which can function as a rear wheel when needed.

Sucks knowing our 6 series will now look more like the rest of the BMW 3 & 4 Series line up...

Bummer... I really hope this is just a fake rendering...

Obviously pure speculation but I wouldn't mind if it looked like that. Also I do think the S63tu will stick around, there's a ton of power left in it and I don't know what else they could do. If it drops several hundred pounds it will be great.

I don't like, it looks like a fat 4 series. Also, new 6 series should come out in 2017, but it will take a year+ for M model to meet the market.
Anyways, will BMW add AWD as promised?

I've seen many posts talking about AWD in the next m5/m6 gen. Can't call it a promise, but it's a big argument. AWD did improve e/cls 63 amg, at least 0-60 time and 1/4 for sure.
