It all comes down to the driver. .01 faster shifts are not felt, but if you aren't a very good manual driver (as some of my friends found out when driving my 14 model) it will be slower.

Power shifting is tricky on this clutch but totally doable.

Take it first hand from someone who's driven both- MT is much more fun- however, a huge pain during rush hour. (That's the only negative I can think of)

Plus- people are when they see it
Don't get me wrong MrSugarSkulls I would always choose manual over anything with ANY car out there too. (For ex my NSX)

There is no comparison to shifting when you are trying to compare a manual to a BMW ///M DCT Sequential Gearing speed. (Night & day)

As for the "FUN" factor, HELL YES it would be more fun and exciting to drive by thinking you'd have more control of the vehicle by gearing. However BMW still uses the 6 speed getrag transmissions they've used in previous ///M cars like the older M3, M5, and M6's.

The only difference w the new M3/4's are that they have a carbon fiber drive shaft for quicker shifting on the DCT Transmissions with an entirely new redefined gearing for this particular model.

I am just not a big fan of driving manual in large cars (personal opinion) bc it feels like I am driving a tractor.

I've driven the new F10 M5's in manual as far as the E60 V10 M5 (previously owned) and the E39 M5's. I couldn't stand how much slower they felt compared to both SMG / DCT when driving them.

Hats off to being different and getting what you want as far as having 6-Speed Manuel for the M6 Grand Coupe! That is just not the car I would neglect having a DCT Sequential Manual Gearbox for a fun enjoyable factor. ( I am assuming you based this choice on driving both to compare, yes?)

I was like to think ahead when buying a car for resale value being in the car business myself.

Keep in mind I drive BMW & ///M cars for a living working for BMW.
Very informative! I definitely appreciate your feedback.

The very first f13 I drove was DCT- I was just ecstatic to finally get a BMW let alone an m6 (coming from a Yaris). In 26 years of life- I never had a performance vehicle- however I decided it was best to invest my money when I first started making serious cash, than get a nice car, so it took a little longer than I wanted to.

Anyways- I test drove the DCT first, and LOVED it. But around the same time- a 6 speed manual became available on swapalease. So when I took over it, the first time I drove it, maybe because I don't have much experience with these kind of vehicles- it was "love at first drive" (little learning curve on the clutch power shifting but still ok)

I am definitely not taking anything away from the DCT- if I had any intention of tracking the car, I would go that route- however, this is for my daily driving purpose, nothing more. Mods will probably only stick to exterior (wheels, drop, and exhaust)

What's your position at NA? I'd definitely prefer to take my vehicle for any service to someone who knows the vehicle.

Oh good to see a guy who knows how to drive an M car is letting me know what car I am driving. So since you are M certified, please let me know how another boaty car which is based off the 7 series as you mentioned (M5 30 Jahre) can keep up with a track oriented M car (M4) on a 1:20 racetrack and just be 0.2 second slower? not to mention the driver (EVO driver) was an M4 owner with 6 months experience behind the wheel of M4 and zero experience behind the wheel of M5?
Have you ever driven a Alpina B6 or a B7 before? You'd know what I am talking about if you did.

The M5 30th Anniversary car is a bit faster than the normal M5 with the Competition package setup (stiffer bushings, steering colume, diff, suspension etc). Keep in mind you are now comparing a 400hp car to a 600hp car with 200 more horsepower dispute the weight difference.

The M5 also had wider tires which is a more balance car than the coupes. Ask any BMW Race car drive and they will let you know that the sedans feel more balanced at the track than the coupes.

As for being .2 seconds slower are you that amazed by that?

There is alot of things that come to place when you are comparing times on a circuit with 2 different cars from tires, weather condition, etc.

That is AWESOME!!! Coming from a Yaris that must have felt like stepping foot into heaven!

One thing on the side note, I can assure you than more than 75-80% owners of an M5 or M6 DO NOT know how to drive nor put it in the correct full potential M Mode settings to get the full experience in what it can really do.

As for my position for BMW I prefer not to say before it gets me another flag on Bimmerpost

And once it's here in the states, you'll be part of the club being one of the rare(r) ones out there- given how they're not as common as it is even with a DCT- with the MT!
ED is 10 August, so build at some point in late July? No production date yet. But order and delivery date are accepted. Tanzanite blue, canyon brown. CP will not allow stick, so I guess I slum it with 560 BHP.

Is the B6 even more "boaty"?

No I have not driven B6, but I had chance to have seat time behind the wheel of 750 and that's why I'm shocked why you say M6 is based off that chassis.
and please keep in mind M6 Coupe is over 500 lb lighter than any of those cars (B6 /B7/750)....
The reason I brought M5 jahre because that car is much heavier than M6 Coupe which is subject to your original post (M6 Coupe is boaty) so basically M5 jahre with 600 HP has almost the same power to weight ratio of M6 and you cannot call it boaty. Speaking about racetrack as you know better than me, power is one thing and chassis is another thing. one example is base 911 with only 350 HP but faster than M4 with over 470 HP (real world number not BMW underrated numbers) because of chassis and the fact of rear weight bias (thanks to rear mounted engine). So no I don't buy it that M5 30 jahre was just 0.2 second slower because of 200 more horse power. Also as I mentioned the driver had no experience behind the wheel of M5 while had 6 months experience behind the wheel of his own M4. M6 on the other hand (as you know) has better tuned suspension compare to M5 and has lower center of gravity (thanks to CF roof) and also wider track. I bet M6 coupe will be much closer to M3/M4 on any race track.
My point is that " M6 is not a boaty slow car at all". Is a nimble car and to me is a very well balanced car. I admit it's not a track oriented car but it's still a powerful M car can be driven in race track.

I would hate to have that job, they must get so many people calling to find out about their car production all the time. I know I called a million times on the last order.

Right?

I don't barrage the customer service specialist daily...yet. Only Did it Monday and Friday (automated every day though).

They seem pretty nice though. I held a good 5 minute conversation with the guy on Friday. He said he had been there for a while and it's the first time he's ever seen an M6 with my specific build, and how blessed I was. I did tell him we did a search on it (my ca and I)and so far- it is the only F13 in the America (and the world since the U.S. Is the only country who gets MT) like it, so definitely pretty cool!
