Trunk spoiler on a convertible?

I see that the trunk spoilers - BMW's and aftermarket's are listed for F06/F13's only. Is there a reason why they aren't compatible with the F12's? (convertibles)

I just had the BMW Performance Parts Bin Spoiler in Carbon Fibre added to my 2016 M6 Cab ... due to the ability to fit the folding roof the actual trunk is a little wider and the contour also wider to accomodate the power lift and folding segment to allow the roof to fit and the rear deck lid to meet up with the lines ... as a result the leading edge of the carbon fibre spoiler does not sit tight to the trunk lid ... I added "Automotive Goop adhesive in Black" ... applied and then trimed with an exacto knife .. the issue is the leading edge will not twist and be able to adhere to the deck lid .. slight imperfection ... but can be masked well!

TOO BAD NO ONE MAKES A CABRIO SPECIFIC DECK LID SPOILER :thumbd own:m ad0260::mad026 0::ma d0259:

I'll post a picture soon

It does look amazing .. but you will have to camo the imperfection as the deck lid is slightly different!!!! The spoiler will lift a little at the leading edge ... car is more Rare than the coup and GC .. thus no one really makes a perfect fit .. SUCKS!!!!

I used the text book and weights seen on the john Deere gator to weigh down the leading edges with the "goop automotive adhesive" overnight ... So about 50 lbs ... Once weight removed the leading edge would still lift ... I tried 3 times per side ... Then I was told the shape is different from the BMW parts manager who had said we will try and ordered it and had it placed by BMW the first time, the BMW specific body shop the second time, followed by my 3 attempts to get it stuck down

It is a slight compromise ...
Not sure anyone makes a cab specific spoiler

Par for course I guess as I had to get down pipes and akrapovic evo exhaust to get a good exhaust tone for 2016 M6 cab ... Or intakes and eisenmann sport exhaust for 2007 M6 ... Let down by BMW ... And I have had two M6 cabs and one 330 XI

Never had such an issue with 2 S63 AMGs and one S450 Benz for parts/accessory fitting or need to replace a new exhaust to get a nice note.

Although I do love the M6 cabs ... after market and bmw perf parts bin deck lid spoilers that are cab specific don't seem to be avail, due to lower production runs on the cabs likely.

luckily this may be the only one hick-up ... as there are other accessories that will fit the full line of M6 cars

Only point, all-0be-it a minor one ... Had to always compromise or spend more money to fix a problem as I saw it (upgrade exhausts, find the right cab specific spoiler or make due with whats avail) ... Even after a $170k bill for new factory orders ...

BUT THAT IS PART OF THE COST OF ADMISSION, AND ADDS A BIT TO THE EXCITEMENT OF DOING MODS, and can make your car very unique ... A BIT OF A MIXED BLESSING!

ALL PART OF THE ADDICTION AND SICKNESS!

Thanks for the info! Are you saying the akrapovic exhaust for the M6 doesn't fit for the convertible as well? I was thinking about changing to akrapovic or m performance.

Also, do you have the windscreen for your convertible? If so, do you need to remove it when you put the top back up? Reason why I'm asking is that I want the windscreen but I don't want to keep having to fold it back whenever I'm closing the top.

Thanks!

Sorry for being missleading

the Akra evolution exhaust for the M6 cab fits and is the BMW Perf Parts M exhaust for the M6 Cab as well but with BMW specific tips ... it fits perfect

However I did the Akra evo with CF tips as it was $1500 Canadian less than the BMW Akra with the BMW specific tips that is in the BMW Perf Bin for the M6 Cab.

I was just venting that to get a nice exhaust note ... with BMW M cars for the cost of admission, we still have to ditch out $$$ to fix the exhaust sound enginerring problem on their end ... not so with Mercedes AMG series cars ...

all the other accessories fit ... just the deck lid spoiler for the cab is not made by anyone so we have to make due ... I saw a 2016 650 GC today with the same BMW perf Parts spoiler at the dealer today .. perfect fit and the leading edges down and inline with the trunk fold ... not like the picture I sent above.

I got carried away and vented a little ... sorry

most BMW Perf Part accessories are a perfect fit and most aftermarket ones ... just the deck lid.

As for the wind screen, my car came with it from the factory .. still in bag as I have booster seats for my 2 boys in the rear ... picture before thhe BMW Perf Part M6 CF deck lid spoiler

hope this helps .. the spoilers area close fit ... need some camo work for them to look good.
