Electronic steering wheel

Is anyone running this?

Any thoughts on its practicality or is it just another overpriced toy? Can it be installed easily or would it have to be professionally installed?

It's an overpriced toy and you need professional installer since the airbag must be removed and reinstalled...

I thought about it but it seemed a little excessive. I went with the Alcantera wheel with the blue stripe on it. It's very nice to the touch!

Its in my M4 order (week 34 build). Being installed at the POE prior to PDC Delivery.

I wanted it primarily for the built in shift lights and the lap timer/stopwatch. Has other neat stuff as well (gforces, etc). You lose the heated steering wheel capability (although I don't think I'll be driving the car much in the Winter...)

Looks cool but the loss of my heated wheel would be a hefty price to pay.

Ditto. I live in MA and it's my daily driver even in the winter. That headed steering wheel is a blessing!

Is your M4 a cab?

My 2016 M6 cab is amazing with the heated steering wheel, as is my 2015 S63 Amg ... My 2007 M6 cab and 2011 S63 Amg both had no heated wheel ... 2008 S450 had heated wheel as did the 2006 330xi ... Heated steering wheel is an amazing lux option!!! Would never do without it!!! Especially on cooler mornin commutes with the roof open or down

Just my 2 cents from Victoria BC canada

The X6M is my winter car. It has a heated wheel. Even my M6 has the heated wheel (its a vert). But the M4 is more of a track day car which I don't expect to see much, if any, winter use in Wisconsin...

All the cars are kept in a heated garage, and to be honest, even in the dead of a Wisconsin winter, I have rarely used the heated steering wheel...

I spent quite a few years building up cars - adding a blower, suspension, etc... After doing that for many years, I'ld rather just drive my cars. Perhaps I'm just getting old...

I have faith that BMW has them optimally tuned. Many people fail to realize that adding more power often means having to tear down the engine and replace pistons, rods, valves, etc (with stronger parts) to be able to maintain the longevity of the engine. I expect if BMW could get another 50HP with a different tune (and no ill side effects) they would have done that in the first place...

I'm happy to drive what I have. (Maybe a little more growl from the exhaust though...)
