iDrive crash - NO SIGNAL - repair thread
I'd like to get a thread going on this issue - I know several are having the same problem.
The purpose of this thread is to see if we are having the same issue and to find out BMW's solution. I have a F06 with a build date of Aug. 2013. This car should have the latest iDrive system. On about 10 occasions now my iDrive has gone completely blank then says in red in the center of the display - NO SIGNAL. It then proceeds to restart itself about a minute later. This happens when driving and parked. I lose iDrive, backup camera, music however my digital dash and heads up display still work. My dealer has no idea what to make of this. Anyone else have a dealer who as solved this issue? |

Not quite the same issue I have had now on at least 4 occasions, I have a Nov 2013 build 640d so iDrive 4.2.
My iDrive simply restarts, it's only happened when driving and I think my iPhone 5s was connected via the USB cable each time. The display goes blank the audio stops and after a few seconds the green bmw connected drive splash screen appears. My HUD and Multifunction display are not affected. |

Same as dannym, 3 times my iDrive has restarted for no apparent reason. Audio was playing from the USB on all three occasions and stopped playing while the iDrive rebooted, once via memory stick, once from an iPhone 4, once from an iPod Classic.
The car is at the dealers now to see if they can find out why. |

Sept 2013 Build / CCC module replaced under warranty when iDrive goes blank twice
My Sept 2013 build F06/6C iDrive went blank and re-started itself twice before I took it to the dealer. This was withing 2 weeks of ownership.
They did some checks and immediately proceeded to replace the CCC module in the centre console (1 day to order, 1 hour to fit, re-coding took 3-4 hours) under warranty after which I have had no issues. Pretty straight-forward and did seem like a over-reaction (in my favour) by the BMW dealer who could perhaps have simple recoded the software but they were taking no chances.

Yes, interesting.
Garage said that no fault was found and no error codes stored, so they just did a system reset but not a software update or module replacement at this stage. It's not a big deal, but if it does it again I'll take it back, luckily I'm only 15 min walk from the dealership. |

Well it seems replacement is the only solution. Mine goes in the last week of January for that - hope it resolves the issue. Seems I'm the only NO SIGNAL one too?

My car is in for CIC replacement - interesting tidbit from the dealer though was they had a 3 series with the same issue. They replaced that CIC and so far so good.

I've just starting having an iDrive reboot issue. I have a 2013 X1. Started happening on this Monday. Was playing music from a USB stick and the music stopped and a few seconds later the system rebooted. Music resumed playing.
No troubles on Tuesday but again today I had issues. System repeatedly crashed and rebooted. At one point I hit the skip track button on the wheel and the next track started playing but there was no sounds. No sound played on any tracks and the radio also had no sound. Car stayed that way for about 10 minutes then rebooted again and everything started to play again. All of this with USB stick in place and an iPhone 5s attached to bluetooth but for calls only. None of this is new- only recent change would be the recent update of the iPhone to iOS 7.1. I have an appointment at the dealer on Monday. Want this resolved as I have a family road trip planned for the end of March and if it is still broken I either have to go 1,000 miles with no tunes or take my wife's Accord. |

Took my car to the dealer yesterday. About 4:30 the next day (today) they called and said the problem was the CIC which they had replaced. The car still need coding so I won't have it back until sometime tomorrow. They gave me a loaner so other than the trip to the dealer I haven't been too bothered. But it does make me glad the car is under warranty....

replacement has done the trick - dealer said there have been others so if you have this issue your CIC needs replacement.
