Software update from 2012 to 2014 problems ?
I was having various problems with my gearbox in another thread , the solution was to upgrade my software on the gearbox and ecu . Now he car drives fine without any of these issues as described in the thread, but I had discovered yesterday I am unable to rev the car beyond 4k on standstill . Is this a feature on all 2014 models ? .
Previously was able to rev the car passed 4k in neutral or parked , but now I am unable to do this . Can I ask various members if this is the same with there's ?. On top of this , I have lost all my coding previously carried out .. Software updates are a pain ! |

I have had a software update following fitting of Ceramic brakes to my 2012. At rest at tickover the car is juddering, you can see the passenger seat moving also at speeds over 60 mph the front of the car judders as though wheels are out of balance (they are not). BMW say "give the car 1000 miles and the software upgrade will settle down, they don't know about the wheel judder yet. Sound familiar to anyone?

That's sounds like a wheel is out of balance . Get it checked out at a tyre place. I thought about changing the brakes , but decided to put some better brake pads on instead. The car actually stops better now and without that brake fad after several fast laps . The only down side is , brake dust ! .. I get a lot of that now.

If you have any coding/software/ecu tweaks; sternly tell your service advisor that you don't want any software updates. Like you, I've learned this the hard way - so frustrating to lose hundreds or thousands of dollars of software when all you did is bring you car for an oil change....

My problem is defo not wheel balance they are perfect I have had them checked. My local specialist thinks it is the brakes slightly binding and getting too hot. I will see what BMW think. Steering and balance is perfect up to about 60 mph, then the wobble starts, sometimes it goes as quickly as it came. Curious! Any further input appreciated. Cheers
