Does it hurt to claim?
However if it's fixed, then should be fine. I know if it's not repairable, the shop will not fix it due to liability...

Sounds like you should be fine. As long as there isn't sidewall damage or the shop tells you "you should replace the tire" keep doing what you do -- hammer down and burn rubber!
