Not with iPhones right now. The new software (yet to be released) should allow for messaging and e-mails. The only way to text through the system is via Bluetooth using Siri/voice recognition. It's very disappointing...

Southy: My BB Bluetooth connection is flawless. I can read / listen to email and texts thru iDrive. The phone book sync works perfectly too. Will I lose these features when I change to an iPhone in a few weeks?

The new iOS 6 which will be available for update soon (also preinstalled in the upcoming iPhone 5) will contain the Bluetooth MAP (Message Access Profile) which BB already has. MAP is the Bluetooth profile which allows messages (text and email) to integrate with idrive via bluetooth.
I'm hoping that with Passbook, we will also be able to view a picture of the person on the idrive when they call (the way you can do that with the phone itself). Not 100% sure but I think passbook will need that Bluetooth profile to work properly so we may see that as well. |

That's good news as I will be getting the iPhone 5 (still a little leery of giving up my BB tactile keyboard). My BB currently displays the person's picture thru iDrive - so maybe. Thanks itinj6.

As for the keypad, it is a PITA to type on the iPhone IMO, but I've gotten used to it. Auto-correct does help with it. I used to be a BB user but now when I go type on my wife's phone, the keys seem too small. I kinda half to fingernail it or I hit two keys minimum at the same time lol. I've been following the new iPhone 5 and iOS 6 closely for the text and email MAP. It is the one feature that iPhone didn't have that made me regret switching. I've missed a few messages on the go that I wish I'd seen sooner. I don't advocate driving at staring at phone messages. Stoked that this will be available on the next go around. |

Of course, Itinj would take this advantage to impress us all with his MAP knowledge to make his public debut back into society...
