How much is maintenance?

After seing the F13 M6 all I have to say is wow. This car is amazing. V8 engine. Love it.

That being said, I'm interested in a brand new M4 or used M6. Both are around the same price point.

My question is how much of a maintenance and reliability is the M6 compared to a M4? Is it Bentley level where it always breaks or it's about the same as the m4?

Thanks!

You can get the CPO M6 that with extended warranty up to 6-7 years that covers almost everything.

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but what does CPO mean?

CPO means certified pre-owned which you would buy at a dealership. BTW -- the reliabity of my car has been very good. Also F12 is the convertible, whereas the F13 is the coupe with the carbon fiber roof.

Ah yes. Yeah I do plan to buy from a BMW dealer.

How long have you had your F13 and what problems have you had?

You're right, I meant the F13, edited.

Since Sept. 2012. No problems except with some vibrations with my brakes that were fixed.

"No problems except with some vibrations with my brakes that were fixed." I just acquired an F12 and I feel some vibrations at the wheel. Front brakes due in less than 3k miles. What was your issue.

CPO covers warranty not maintenance. You can buy a maintenance plan from BMW, but I think the oil change lengths are too long. I would find a good independent shop.

I crossed shopped a new M4 (coming from a 2012 M3) and the M6 was a much bigger step up to me. The 2013 I bought was also far cheaper, though I will have to pay abot $5,500 for an extended Platinum BMW warranty before September.

I plan on doing oil changes, brakes, air filters and all the regular stuff myself. I'm just worried if a major parts breaks, transmission etc and knowing the warranty can cover that is enough for me.

Yeah I can find a used 2013 M6 here for 75k CAD. A brand new M4 with DCT and full leather is 93K CAD.

Not sure if you can change all of those stuff by yourself. Many parts (including brake sensors) requires the reprogramming the ECU or at least removing the error message.. today's car at this level are fully software base...
