I’d love to see someone put one on an Isetta.

On my Isettas I just used the "I" stolen off the trunks of E21 cars. Seemed more appropriate.

I put them on my G31, too.

They look great.

I’ve always loved this version of the roundel.
Will be putting at set on my Alpine white e90 when the weather gets nice.

What? Official color? What does that mean?

That color didn't even exist in the early days of Motorsport. For decades, Chamonix was the white color on BMWs. That's even one of the two available colors on the iconic 2002turbo, arguably the first production BMW sporting M-colors from the factory.

Even the first true "M" cars, the M1 and the M535i, weren't Alpine.

So, I'm not sure what you mean by "official", particularly in reference to the 50th anniversary?

BMW traditionally raced in white, and over here lots of people refer to Alpine White as the "Rennfarbe." They moved away from it for a short time, before returning in the 60s and the 90s.

Perhaps I should have stated it differently.

White had been the official racing color for German entries in international competition until sometime in the '30s when AutoUnion requested an option for silver because not painting aluminum bodies made the cars weigh less than painted ones. Doubtful that that "official" color was ever Alpine White and it was based on national origin—not just for BMW. I doubt that even the white quadrants in the BMW logo are Alpine.

Most or all of the loaner cars from the local dealership are white.

Here are some cool links for more information on the anniversary & the color scheme. I personally like them, have them on my 2022.
