before i exchange my wheels i am thinking to replace my wheel hubs which are 7cm width with the m6 /m5 ones which are 4.5 cm. the m5/m6 are smaller by 2.5 cm.
first image is the 640 wheel hub and the rest the m5/m6 wheel hub. the only problem is that the abs ring on the up of the m5/m6 hub is not identical with the 640. anyone knows if this mod would be a possible solution? |

I really like the hub idea. Just having a look on realoem.com and the wheel carriers are obviously different but the abs sensor might be something you could modify. Why settle for something less than what you're after..
Might be something that could be fabricated using both parts. |

Looking at the pictures again, I can't see this working. There is a significant flange on the M6 hub that would fit into a recess in the M6 wheel carrier. Where as the standard hub has little flange. Looks like the bearing in the M6 hub is within this flange and hence the hub carrier bolt holes are so shallow to the outer part of the hub. From these pictures it looks like you'd be replacing the wheel carrier and all of the rear suspension for M6 components, or a modified wheel carrier but not sure how much I'd trust a part where metal has been removed (as in creating a recess in the wheel carrier to accept hub). You'd probably run into issues in the length of the driveshaft as well.

Good choice....about 2 months and a lot of unnecessary headaches too late but it looks great.
