We bring you photos of the F13 6-series convertible sporting a tan color soft top for the first time. We have not yet seen confirmation of the soft top colors to be available on the upcoming F13. If this tan top is one of those colors, it certainly matches Milano Beige (as pictured), but we're not sure it will work well with other exterior colors.
The soon to be outgoing 2010 6-series convertible is currently available in a black or gray soft stop. Follow our ongoing 6-series coverage : http://www.bimmerpost.com/6-series/

Evolution GT is right - the car converges to the size and weight of a little yacht. The sail canvas on the roof is used to chase the rain away to keep the captain dry.

It's a mistake if they don't move to a hardtop convertible.

I can't believe with all the engineer, and the cost to buy one is hella expensive. BMW still put a canvas top on the 6-Series Cabriolet. Why can't they do a hard top convertible?
6 Series convertible? ![]()

Why does everyone want a hardtop convertible so bad? I'm guessing the new 6 'vert was left as a softtop so that you can still get luggage in the trunk with the top down. Have you seen the trunk space in the E93 with the top down? It's non-existent.

Ugh, just take one look at an E93 with the top up to realize why it's not a hardtop convertible. Is there a good looking hardtop 'vert, especially one with a functional backseat?
The 911, Bentley Continental, Aston DB9 and countless other cars continue with cloth tops because they look better, don't eat trunk space and when the chassis flexes, they don't drive their painted parts into fixed components and result in pricey repairs. |

Agree there should be a hard top vert, at least optional.
Cargo space in the e93 is fine - as much as the e46 had. Haven't had a single problem with the top getting damaged from chassis flex. Looks are subjective, but I'll think the e93 M3 looks much better than the e64 M6. For the record - 328's and white E92s are gay too. ![]()

No, but I'd guess it will happen to non-M's first due to less chassis stiffening. Many SLK and SL MB's have developed an appetite for their folding roofs over time, I'd imagine it's a matter of time for E93's too. How's that silly looking chrome window trim on your E93 M3? How is it that BMW can't find a way to remove that, or at least make it Shadowline?

It's definitely easier for designers to accommodate for a folding soft top. I still can't get over how bulbous the rear end of the Ferrari California looks with the hard top down.

![]() Honestly I don't even notice the chrome window trim. I am too busy enjoying the car. Well, that and the chrome window trim is a minor detail that easily gets masked by the fact that its not a silly looking 1 series. ![]()

I just used the window trim as an example of BMW half assing the hardtops on the E93, how hard could it really be to ship some Shadowline trim to the factory that does the folding hardtop? My wife (who drives the 135i) originally wanted a convertible, started out looking at the 335i, didn't like the roof, changed to looking at the more conventional 135i convertible, didn't like the small back seat and somehow ended up with the 135i coupe, right where I would have preferred her. Lucky me, I guess. I will say that while I have absolutely no interest in the 6er, or especially the 6er convertible, I do think it looks better and fits the clientele better with a soft top. By the way, no hate here for the E9x M3, I'd like to pick up an ED E90 before the disappear, at least if myself and the wife find ourselves needing a proper car. |
