Exclamation 2011/2012 M6 coupe (hardtop cabrio?) caught testing for the first time!

We bring you the world's first peek at the upcoming F12 M6 coupe (or perhaps hardtop convertible)! The telltale sign here are the quad exhausts, huge brakes, and cross-drilled rotors. This prototype wears camoflage body panels and the front bumper is that from the standard F12/F13 6-series that we've seen. However, the wheels appear to be upgraded 19" versions with some beautiful high concavity.

The F12 M6 will share the same engine as the upcoming F10 M5 - the turbocharged 8 cylinder motor from the X5 and X6 M (the BMW S63 engine, a 4.4L twin turbo, twin scroll, direct injection), expected to come in at the 585-600hp mark.

These pics clearly debunk an earlier rumor that the M6 would be scrapped in favor of a V8 sports car drawing cues from BMW’s Vision Efficient Dynamics concept.

These shots remind me of the Z32 300ZX from the 1990's. Now, I'm not saying I think the car's going to look like that, but these particular shots just remind me of that car.

Insane! There were some thinking that the M6 would be no more.

Looks like this could be the hardtop convertible- you can make out the cut lines on the roof, don't think these would be present on the coupe

100% That is a Hardtop Convertible.
You can clearly see the lines on the roof...

There's clearly a hard B-pillar, so this is NOT a hardtop convertible. Of course that means the coupe will have weird cut lines in the roof, but this is not a convertible.

There is a hard B Pillar, so I can't decide what this is. I have to say, they do a very good job of confusing us. Because the hard B Pillar tells me that there is no way this is a convertible, and then the cut lines in the roof tells me this is def a convertible, because there is no way the coupe will have those cut lines.

It also looks like the shadowline trim is uninterrupted. I'd guess the cutlines are either further camouflage or some sort of glass panel roof. The placement of the rear cutline, above the b-pillar almost makes it look like it could be a targa roof, but it appears to actually be forward of the b-pillar in direct profile.

I have a feeling this will be a very beautiful BMW. Nice muscular stance and good proportions.

Yeah I thought I read that BMW was scrapping the M6 for a "supercar". If this is true it is indeed good news!

Looks like it will have two giant moonroofs - basically an all glass roof. Maybe that accounts for the interruptions in the trim and the presence of hard B pillars??

I still think this car is ridiculously hyooj!!

BMW needs to make a small, tossable, hi-torque diesel with an electric assist motor in it to stamp out the turbo lag.

Cheers!

Theres a good chance those lines on the roof are from the camo panels they've put on the roof.

It's probably not a hardtop vert due to the fact that theres no real separation between the windshield frame and the roof.

The A-pillar appears to be covered to too....and the side window liner strip appears to be loose/out of place, perhaps also to cover up the sectional roof....

Guys, I think we're dealing with a hard top convertible here

(I've been giggling like a little school girl for the last 45 minutes....I've been waiting for this day for 4 or 5 years now)
