BMW's next-generation 6-series has begun testing, as evidenced by
these shots of a prototype caught on German Roads. Somewhat
surprisingly, our first look at the 6-series follow-up is of the drop-
top variant. The prototype appears to wear a combination of
camouflage panels covered in BMW's trademark psychedelic swirl
veneer. Design details are tough to make out through all of the
visual clutter, but it appears that the new 6-er will follow the route
of the second-generation BMW Z4--ditching some of its more
controversial styling elements in favor of a new-found elegance and
clean-ness of line. Many will welcome a more straight-forward
approach, especially the toning-down of the infamous Bangle-butt,
which is more pronounced on the current 6-series than on any other car
in BMW's current model-range.

I may be in the minority here but I love the "Bangle butt" on the current 6.

That rear window looks a bit fake. Hopefully it retains the upright rear window and the 'buttresses' like the current 6er vert.

I doubt that is the new 6. More like a test mule for a new engine/suspension.

The body will look a lot different than the current one. I also suspect a hardtop vert.

oh yeah? then why did they put camoflauge on the car and put extra plastic to hide the lines??? for fun???!!!!

Looks like BMW is really pushing the new large kidney grills influenced by the CS concept. TBH, i'm not a big fan. They look overbearing on the new 7, and judging by the picture it seems to be the case with this camouflaged 6.

Same, they did make the CS grill a bit big. Kinda killed the look of it.

I expected the next gen 6er drop-top to be a hard-top convertible...

Makes no sense that the new 3er vert is hard-top and looks like the next Z4 roadster will be a hard-top too...

I agree, this is probably a mule for drivetrain or a very early mule without a completed hard-top mechanism...

Here are photoshop pics of the new coupe. Expect the vert to have a hardtop. The slope rear glass is preparing for the new top.

So what would you suggest they do? not camouflage an internal half assed concept/mule and let it run the track with nothing on it
