M6 Gran Coupe alloy Wheels on 640d Gran Coupe
Just swaped my msport alloy wheels with the 433m original M6 GC alloy wheels but the rear ones are out of fender by 18mm. Would like to have a flush look - does anyone know what it needs to be done?
Thanks a lot in advance |

This issue has been known about for a while (even the F10 M5 rear wheels are narrower than the M6 version). You can find another set of front wheels for the rear or find a set of M5 ones and they will fit (F10 version is 1/2 inch narrower). As said above though you either roll the arch or change the wheel, there is no other option as you need to move the wheel further inboard to get it to sit properly. |

yes - the suspension geometry/axle width is different. The rears don't fit, period, unless you like the wheels sticking out that far, which will sandblast the paint off your fenders, by the way.

How about more rear camber and a subtle stretch on the tyres?
Surely you can find 6mm a side - I have 12mm spacers on my standard 20s and the fitment is bang on. I say those wheels look awesome and with some subtle tweaks I'd love to see you getting them to 'work'. Good look with it, fingers crossed you get it. |

Your options are to roll your wheel arches or ditch the wheels. You can disguise the issue by running narrower tyres which will give a stretched look but you cannot reduce how much the wheel rim protrudes from the body of the car. No offense, but I'm amazed that you went through with shelling out for genuine M6 GC wheels without having checked on this. As I said earlier it's no secret that the dimensions are different and I'm not sure why you would think that an M car would have a narrower track than a standard model. That makes absolutely no sense. Best of luck with it. |

I agree the OP buying these wheels without checking to see if they would fit is surprising. After all, its not like he is new to modding his car - he has CCB brakes on it.

All the rear end bumpers and spoilers are interchangeable between them. My quick internet research shows they have an identical width of 74.6 inches. 10" wider? are you looking at the M6 cup car??? Actually, neither of those numbers you cite are anywhere near correct for either car. 1894 mm is 86" - over 7 feet wide! and 2106 mm is a full 8 feet wide!

M5 wheels are a perfect fit on the 6 series, but if you have xdrive you will want to change from 265/35 on the front to 255/35 to get the same circumference as the 295/30 rears.

The last thing I would do is to roll the fenders or add "flares" to it. BTW, do you have CCBs?
