If a 640d owner reads this post please respond!
Hello,
I'm aware of the fact that this thread is over 3 years old, but it's the only one about 640d ASD I found. Therefore, if anyone who has evere driven a 640d reads it, please answer my question: does the sound of the engine (which is altered by the ASD) change when switching to Sport mode? I'm hesitating whether to buy a used 640d (most likely pre-LCI) or not, and I wouldn't like to have a car with an engine sound changing when switching drive modes. Should 640d be such a car, I won't buy it. |

the sound is the same, i find it slightly louder in sport mode but not much and doesn't sound inappropriate either, i suggest you test drive one and judge it for yourself

It's certainly not a v6 sound it's a straight Six sound.
I had my Active sound in my 640d Coded to the m6 active sound which I really like and have lots of comments saying how nice it sounds etc

Wow, thanks for the replies. I didn't expect them so quickly! By the way, how do you code different sounds to the ADS? Just choose from some list? Maybe it's possible to pick 750d F01 sound... Auto Motor und Sport says nothing changes in 750d's sound when you switch to Sport ;-)

DD Coding. If you search on Facebook for them speak to Adam. He can do it remotely if you're not local to him

Bump. I have done some research on this today and I am reading that a lot of F10 owners who have done muffler deletes and disconnected ASD have significantly reduced drone. This would imply that ASD is somehow taking noise from the exhaust and amplifying it. However, I also read that you can code your car to sound like a car that is completely different to what you are driving (i.e. an M6 comp instead of a 640), which would imply that the noise being pumped into your car is really being driven more by RPMs. Does anybody know how ASD is actually working?
I plan to disconnect ASD this evening with the hopes it drastically reduces drone. I am just curious to learn more how this system works. |

Guys I’ve taken delivery of my 2013 640d today.
Went straight onto BimmerCode and the asm module was there to be coded but it kept saying unknown value? Anyone know how I can change this to the m6 sound please? Cheer s |

If I’ve already got a adaptor, can I not just download Carly and then try it?
