2013 F12 M6 Dinan Tune Dyno
Just installed the newly released Dinan Stage 1 Tune and drove straight to a Dynojet. Other upgrades include Gruppe M intake and Akrapovic exhaust. Keep in mind this was higher temp AZ weather and 91 octane gas. Using the .15 drive-train loss conversion, we are estimating 637hp at the crank. I am pretty happy with the results and looking forward to Stage 2 release.

Unfortunately, no. I got the intake and exhaust right after the car and have been waiting for a tune to come out. I have seen these motors dyno stock at 490-500 to wheels in cooler conditions here.

If you drove straight to the dyno and didn't allow around 200 miles for the adaptation, you will get better numbers if you dyno again Thanks for posting ! I switched from BMS to Dinan stage 2 and I am very happy with the results |

wow, that's interesting eurokar. i drove less than 40 miles before dyno run. i worked closely with BMW and Dinan on this install and i am surprised neither party advised me of this break in period. i am planning on waiting for it to cool down here and run again with some 93 octane. hopefully stage 2 will be released by then as well. thanks for the info!

All ECU's need an X amount of driving miles for the software changes to adapt. I have programed many ecu's and have first hand experience that the learning process takes some time. But, you will feel the initial change right away. After the adaptation you will feel how more precise the software change has become. |

I have a GC and as soon as my exhaust gets installed (it is currently being fabricated) I will do the same.
Seat of the pants tells me there is a very noticeable difference with my Dinan D-tronics. I am happy so far and look forward to the ability to change maps via bluetooth in the future.

I agree. You have to go back after a couple hundred miles. These results aren't horrific.

Regarding break in period, I received this clarification from Dinan, ". . .Internet rumor only. Some adaptation does occur, but it is minimal and occurs rather quickly."
Remember, this is a piggy back unit and is basically tricking the ECU with signals. Overall, I am happy with results and expect some more power with cooler temps. |

Regardless of "piggy back" or a true ecu flash. Both factory ECU's are receiving signals that are being sent and received by the Dinan ECU which is connect directly to the factory ECU's. Regardless, cant wait to see your results. |

The Dinan dealer who is programming the vehicle still has to do the updates. Reason why I know, I have seen programming of F series cars with this feature. It would be cool if it was like that. Maybe in the future but I doubt that will happen. Too much is taking place that if something failed during programming you would need assistance to bring the ECU's back online to program. |

Yes, I definitely hear more air flowing into motor and more turbo spool. Exhaust sounds real crisp too. It had the whole service team at Scottsdale BMW gathered around listening to it.

I am not sure. I think the car sounds way better than it did with just the exhaust but it's been progressive changes. I have added the Noelle pipes and they have taken the sound up another notch. As hot as it is here, I am driving around with the windows down just for the sheer pleasure of listening to the whole setup. Where it really sounds great is blasting up a freeway entrance ramp.

Um...Well my car dyno'ed multiple times at 545-550 Wheel horsepower stock on a mustang dyno which reads 5% at least lower than a dyno jet. Its Not a Comp Package Car. I also know many many people that dyno 530-560 wheel horsepower on a dynojet in stock form so looks like dinan didnt do much or needs adaptation time. The BMS tune regularly dynos out at 590-610 at the wheels

Maha Dyno Before AND After Dinan Tune
Here are the dyno's from a Maha dyno. One before the Dinan and one a few days after. Same temperature, gas etc. I was told the Maha dyno's were the most accurate, but numbers (which are crank hp) seem low. This is why I then drove over to a Dynojet. Either way, you can see a delta of 34hp from Dinan tune.
