My F13 M6 with HRE's and H&R Drop (pics)-Better Pics Just added!!!! 04/15/2013
Well finally H&R made a set of springs for the F13 (came out a few weeks ago) and they are on the car. The install was rather easy compared to the F10 M5 where you have to actually remove the inside rear deck and speakers to access the top of the rear spring perches. The F13 is easy in this regard: simple trunk access. The drop is not much more than 20 miles old so I cant give you a full perspective on the comfort or lack of it but the car felt planted and solid at speeds up to 143mph. Of course Ill need an alignment which I will get this week.
Here are some quick shots I took via my cell phone (apologies). Ill get more pics but I think this gives you an idea of what to expect. Wheels: HRE P47SC in Satin Black, 20x9.5 and 20x11 on stock tires 255x35 and 295x30 H&R Springs, 1 inch drop at each end per their specs Side View Not Lowered Front Wheel Not Lowered Rear Wheel Not Lowered Side View Lowered Front Wheel Lowered (right when the lift came down) Rear Wheel Lowered (right when the lift came down)

M6 with a drop looks 100x better. Should be absolutely perfect as they settle in a little more. Love the Satin black HRE's. Seriously, you mod your cars with such perfect taste. Well played and thanks for the pics.

Thanks guys... after putting a few more miles on and then lining it up in the garage vs the dropped F10 M5; the M6 front is dropped more and the rear is slightly lower in regards to tire vs fender gap.
The springs on the M6 (h&R) are so short so there is less travel which want. I think because of this I didnt feel the car being bouncy but instead had a more coilover feel like my C63 Black Series which is fine for me. The drive is tight and not cushy but still BMW like in regards to undulations and turns. Ill give more feedback as I put more miles on the car and get an alignment. But for a car that was just dropped 1 inch all the way around it drives true on the toll roads but Im sure the toe is out and camber might need some love.

So Vic, overall are you saying the ride is just slightly stiffer than standard?
I love the look of the drop, but don't want to change the ride quality too much... a little is expected but I don't want to rattle my teeth out either. May I also ask where you got your springs, as the Aussie agents here aren't too keen on getting them in stock. Cheers, Scar |

Ill drive the car more tomorrow, I only drove it a total of about 40 miles since the drop... I got my springs from my Benz tech who does and did all my work on my past and current Benzes. He is a BMW nut too so he did the drop. I think you can access the springs directly from the H&R site as well.

I did drive it about 50 more miles....... sorry mate I wanted to drive my M5 and my Black Series more in the past week. Here is my take: you can tell that its a little more stiff- but not too bouncy- and this is fine for me. The shorter springs create less compression and rebound so the they work pretty good with the stock EDC. I took the car on a more aged toll road with bad pavement and the car held its own comfortwise. In high speed bends (100 mph plus) on good roads the car feels planted and very neutral. There appears to be less body roll and an increased firmness. In the straights the car is awesome (speeds to about 160mph). This is all very subjective. I think I carry a higher threshold when it comes to comfort loss than most at the sake of gaining a better looking car without diminished performance. I like the springs and to me its a must have for the F13 if ones to retain EDC yet remove those unsightly gaps.

Vic do the 295 look really stretched on the 11inch rears? For what I can tell from your photos it looks fine. Getting p40sc for my M5 and plan on using my stock tires.

They have a very minor curve to them--- obviously 305's would be optimal but I kept the stockies so when they wear down Ill replace then. The PSS tires are a more square type of tire sidewall wise so they dont look that bad vs lets say a Hankook or Toyo tire which already has a rounder sidewall. You will be fine with 295s. On my M5 I went with 10.5's in the rear (HRE P44SC's).
