Well, I have been pleased across the board with my coupe. Steering is different, but centered, and provides good feedback. It is different, and not as nervous as some BMWs I have driven, but I don't want it to feel like a race car. Even with the big Dunlops it doesn't "track" in grooves, and responds instantly.

It's just like my F10 (same part number for rack/motor/control assembly); both very good cars with the single, but very significant, exception of the lacklustre steering. I so wanted the new 6'er, but I'll now be looking at either the new M5, which has hydraulic steering, or the forthcoming 3 series coupé. It will have electric steering, but according to 'Autocar UK', the sedan's steering is perfect. |

I did not like the steering at first. Then I started driving in sport+. Driving in sport+ increased the effort and made it more to my liking. Now that I have been driving the car a few days, the steering feels fine to me in any mode.
Some of my favorite steering cars have been an early miata with no power steering, the 3 different Porsche Boxsters and the Cayman I have owned, and a BMW 3 series. I think the steering in the 6 is fine. It did take me a couple of days to adjust to it though, but it also took me a couple of days to adjust to the size of the car in general. My last car was a 135i. |

Also noticing that no matter what mode you are in the steering gets tighter and tighter the faster you go. I was on the freeway today and it was the most on center car I have ever driven period.
