It's been a busy few testing days for BMW at the Nurburgring and we've spotted the M6 Gran Coupe continuing its testing, just days after BMW
acknowledged that the flagship M model will be coming next year. It will likely arrive as a 2014 model year and see its auto show debut at the 2013 NAIAS in Detroit or the 2013 Geneva show. Expect the first details of the car to be announced online by the end of this year.
The M6 Gran Coupe will be powered by the same S63Tu engine as the M5 and M6, but possibly be introduced with a bit more power than the 560hp of the M5/M6. Prototypes have been spotted testing with and benchmarked against M5s (video below). A 7 speed DCT transmission will be available and no word yet on a possible manual option. That decision probably lies with whether a manual will be made available for the M6 coupe and convertible (which they currently are not offered with).
The M6 Gran Coupe will feature the same front and rear design as the M6 Coupe and Convertible and will have a similar carbon fiber roof to the one on the M6 coupe (see our
previous renders).
The M6 Gran Coupe's price will start north of $100,000 as the M6 coupe and convertible start at $106,995 and $113,995 USD. Expect the Gran Coupe's price to top both the coupe's and convertible's pricing.
