The engineering team in charge of technical repair in the US issued this statement: BMW is aware of a known issue with the 650i where cylinders 6 and 3 will fail under certain circumstances, there is no known repair at this time and replacing parts will not impact the issue. For me, this issue only surfaces after long drives over 70mph. Has anyone else experienced this? From my understanding, nearly every 650 will have these two cylinders shut down during a long trip.

Happened to me in two separate trips from az to cali, drivetrain malfunction came on display the power to the engine got limited. had to pull over, turn the engine off for about 10 mins. restart and everything would work as normal.
Got it to the dealer, first time they could not find anything, the second time in they found misfire faults for cylinder 3 and 6, they said they installed a cable tie to secure the fuel rail pressure sensor harness.
Did not take a long trip since, so i am very curious what the hell is going on with it. I have the 14 650i with the "updated" engine
