Neither MB or BMW have intention to compete in this class and this is not just the only one. There is no competition in SL class too. I have seen people compare SL with 6 er convertible, but they are not the same. The competitor of 6 er in MB line-up is CLS; however CLS is not coupe or convertible.
The same thing with other brands. Let me ask you question. what's the competitor of 650i Coupe or convertible in Audi line-up? Which Porsche is the competitor of 6 er? what is the competitor of SLS or SLR or AMG GT or R8 in BMW line-up?

Agreed, and clearly the CLS and 6GC are pretty direct competitors (as sedans.)
