You can be easily be mislead by how heavy this car really is because of the significant power/response the V8 Twin Turbo puts out in other words ///M Power "The Ultimate Driving Machine"
The "boaty" term is based on:
1. The car being big
2. The significant heavy weight of the vehicle
3. Handling due to the length of the vehicle
Again this based on my own personal experiences working for BMW myself and being an ///M Certified Specialist from BMW USA.
Not to mention I drive these cars for a living

wow you are right. I didn't know a 192" car (M6) is based off a 200" car (7 series) chassis.
Oh good to see a guy who knows how to drive an M car is letting me know what car I am driving. So since you are M certified, please let me know how another boaty car which is based off the 7 series
as you mentioned (M5 30 Jahre) can keep up with a track oriented M car (M4) on a 1:20 racetrack and just be 0.2 second slower? not to mention the driver (EVO driver) was an M4 owner with 6 months experience behind the wheel of M4 and zero experience behind the wheel of M5?
